The last time we stayed at the Dolphin (March 2001), Dreams arranged for the $8 daily resort fee to be waived; now they have a note stating to contact the resort about waiving the fee. ??Does the resort waive the fee anymore? Do Starwood members still pay the fee? just wondering ....

We stayed at the Dolphin in July. People om these boards had been saying they were NOT able to waive the fee anymore. I forgot to ask about it when I checked in. I went down to the front desk a couple hours later and told them I wanted to waive the resort fee. I was told,"No Problem", and it was waived. Other people were told it was not possible to waive it. Just be nicely presuasive.

I also waived the fee last June, they gave me no difficulty about it and seemed to be used to the process. If someone gave me a hard time I would just try again later with a different front desk person.

Is that fee $8 per person per day or $8 per room per day? I will plan to be significantly more "persuasive" in having the charge removed if I stand to lose $32 per day ($8 X 4 people) as opposed to $8 per day.

We stayed at the Dolphin in August and were able to wave the resort fee without any questions. However, we have reservations at the Swan for after Christmas (which I actually made Nov. of 2001) and they told me No! I called and talked to a person in reservations, and was told no more waving of fee for anyone. Well, I was not satisfied with this respose since I just was there in August so I sent a letter to management. We will see what happens.

Thanks for the info "Disney VA" ... please let us know what you hear from management.

Reveric,

The resort fee @ the Swan & Dolphin consist of a daily newspaper, coffee (grounds, filters, etc..) and use of the workout area.

Now, we bring our coffee from home (New Orleans chickory brand), don't really need a newspaper (I'm on vacation) and I'm not even going to walk past the workout area.

I really hope I can waive when I arrive because I won't be using what I'm paying for.

Dude

We haven't stayed there since April of 2001, but we requested it be waived then and was told yes. We found a newspaper outside of our room each morning, and becaused we thought we were being charged the resort fee, we used their coffee one morning. We didn't use the phone (had our cell phones with us), didn't use the health club, etc. When we checked out, we were not charged the fee. Go figure.

I believe if you are a Platinum SPG member the fee is waived.

We will be at the Dolphin in Dec/Jan and will try to get the fee waivered. We are Plat SPG.

Just made ressies yesterday for nurse/teacher rate. When I asked about waiving, the first reservation person I talked to said to ask at check-in. I had to call back this morning to check on a detail and asked again. This time, the agent told me that was fine, & said she had removed the fee. We'll see when we get there I guess!

I just returned yesterday from a four night stay at the Swan. I was not able to get the fee waived for our stay. I have stayed at the S/D many times over the last four years and this is the first time. However, I was on a SPG award (cash and points) and I had used additional points to upgrade to club level. When I checked in, I first told the person at the counter that I had an extra adult in the party (there is a $25 per night charge for this), then I asked to have the fee waived. I also requested a renovated room (which I received with a balcony) instead of 12th floor. When I checked out, the person at the desk had not added the extra adult charge! My thought was she was compensating me for the denial of the resort fee waiver and my continued patronage of the S/D.

Do you remember which room and floor you were on? Since we are going in Dec. would also like to request a renovated room. Thanks!

Room 436 in the Swan. From the balcony we could see some rooms on the third floor that had also been renovated.
