I'd like to get some folks' experience with waitlisting. We are trying to go Oct 14-23 and there is nothing available at any DVC resort . So at this point we're keeping our fingers crossed to see if somthing opens up. Is there a point where cash reserved roms are relesed for DVC members?

F&W is in full swing during this time. It will be very difficult to snag a ressie at this late date. I'd book a cash ressie as a backup plan.

Good luck!:goodvibes

They don't convert CRO reservations back into point reservations because they have already been used for a point reservation and now they need to come up with the cash to pay for that point reservation. Every time a member books the DCL on points or decides to stay at the DL Resort or wants to experience the GF on points, the points the member uses to book those stays have to be used to get cash to pay Disney for those stays.

So, what you see as point reservations will be about all you can get for points.

If I book a cash ressie, i'd have to cancel that ressie w/in 45 days to get my full deposit back!

:confused3 Are you booking a cash room through CRO or MS? Through CRO if you call 1-407-W-DISNEY you have a 5 day cancellation period. I think online reservations are 45 days. Not sure what the MS cash rate policy is as I would not pay those prices for a villa anyway.;)

We booked the last 2 nights of our trip at POR on a AAA rate. There's a 5 day cancellation window. We are going Oct 13-18th and yes, EVERYTHING DVC is booked solid. We are starting at OKW, then going to SSR, then back to OKW, then 2 nights at POR. We are praying our WL comes through but not holding our breath. We are WL'd for all DVC resorts and have been since early August. No movement at all so far. :sad2:

If you really want a trip, call CRO and book a regular room and get on the WL. Stay on until 7 days out and if something comes up you still have the 5 day cancellation window in effect.:thumbsup2

That's a LONG stay. Did you have them check day by day to see if they could find anything at all during that time? If they can take it and waitlist on either side. If they don't I would still see if they will break it up into a few "shorter" waitlists.

I actually had MS check week by week for 2bedrooms from the first week in Nov backwards into Oct(have no idea what you need) but available rooms were few and far between. We ended up taking the first week in Oct because that was the only time we could get a week straight. It was mostly a few days here and there that had rooms available. I would have taken any resort but ended up at SSR (which is fine since I could then use my developer points).

I'm waitlisted for Oct 26-Nov1(check out). CM told me October is one of the busiest months for DVC. She suggested I could use points at a non-DVC resort. Not the best use of points, but an option.
So far, each time I've been waitlisted it has worked out. As far as spur of the moment reservations, once in July I had to book SSR instead of OKW, but all the other times I've gotten what I wanted. The is going to be a new experience I'm afraid! Good luck to you.

Yes, EVERYTHING is booked. I have a 1 bedroom booked (at 11 months out) Oct. 19 - 28. My dad recently passed away, so now Mom is going along. I'm waitlisted for a 2 bedroom. If my 2 bedroom comes through, maybe that will open my 1 bedroom for you to use! :)
HOPE is good!
