Waitlisting...where am I likely to get in?

My dh and I recently decided to try to add to our Dec. trip with points....but I've just called ms and there's nothing available. I'd like to use the wait list, but I'm unsure of where we want to stay...I called knowing that if there was anything available I'd take it! So, which resort am I most likely to get a room via the wait list? I'll be looking for either a studio or if we can get standard view BWV or OKW a 1br.....any idea what I'll have the best chances on waitlisting for?

Can I waitlist for it all and just take the first thing that comes available? Or stay on all the waitlists and take my pick (like taking the first thing that comes, then cancelling if something we prefer would come available?) How does this whole waitlist thing work?

I hope someone with more experience will answer you also, but I'm now having my first go at being on a waitlist. When I was trying to get our extra room (family says "yes" at the last minute!!), the only DVC resort available was OKW. Whether that means it would always be the one with more availability, I don't know. The other thing I've discovered is that you are much more likely to get waitlist days one at a time than trying for a whole set of days at once. Of course, that means you might get Monday, Wednesday and Friday but not Tuesday and Thursday, but your chances are better that way, I think.
We have reservations at BCV in Sept, and when I wanted to add another room, I had to be flexible. We waitlisted at BCV and BWV. We finally got BWV and were waitlisted for the whole week at BCV. By calling every day, I realized rooms were opening up during the week we wanted them, but not the whole week at once. I finally went ahead and reserved the nights I could get at BCV, and had to leave ressies for 2 nights still at BWV. We waitlisted for BCV on those. Luckily, one of those two just came thru today. I wanted a one bedroom at BCV all week, but I now have 3 nights at BCV in a 1 bdrm, 3 nights in a 2 bdrm, and the last night still at BWV. We're on waitlists for a 1 or 2 bdrm at BCV the last night, and a 1 bdrm for the nights currently booked as a 2 bdrm. Confused??? So am I, but I think this is our only chance to get what we need.

Now I am new at this , so please listen to the advice of everyone and consider it but I would have to guess that since BCV is still selling out and selling fast at that then the member inventory will be increasing over the next few months freeing up availability.
I would deffinately waitlist at BCV. Unless there is alerady a mile long waitlist I think this one gives you a great shot at availability.

I think that your best waitlist chance is at OKW - there are so many more rooms at this resort than the others. In addition to that, so many people that stay at OKW are waitlisted to move into other resorts to try them, which then provides even more availability at OKW. You can never go wrong staying at OKW - very spacious, beautiful and relaxing!

Best chance may be BCV at this point. As DVC continues to sell BCV they will declare more inventory into DVC for member ressies. I agree with waitlisting daily. Someone else can probably fill you in on the details, but you can probably waitlist more than one resort. I believe you can set it up so they call you when it becomes available and get your approval before they book it and use your points. I'm not too sure how that works as we have always done auto confirm when we used the waitlist.

Just to let you know, you can waitlist at more than one resort for the same day/days.

We have been on the waitlist for a 2 bedroom vs 1 at HH for a long time! Looks like we won't get it since only 16 days away!

rombar, you were correct! We ended up not needing to waitlist at all...got a 1br at OKW today. Seems like it will be a nice relaxing way to end 2 weeks at WDW! And as a strange coincidence...the points I needed were exactly the # I had left this year....I thought they were already used! I'm looking forward to seeing just how spacious the room is......I wonder if it could really be bigger than 4123 at the BWV?

LindaDVC...sorry to hear the waitlist hasn't worked for you. I guess HH in the summer is a tough one!

Since we didn't get the upgrade to a 1 bedroom we decided to try to add on an extra night!

No availability the Sat before or Friday after our stay!

Oh well -- we tried!

So we will have our 1 bedroom from Sun to Friday am!
