I called this morning at 9:30am to get a studio for December 4th 2011 and it's not available. I'm on the wait list for the 4th and I have to call back tomorrow for the other 2 days of my trip. Is it normal for December to be booked already and what are my chances for the wait list coming through? I really didn't think I'd have such a problem exactly 7 months out. :sad1:

Now the 5th and 6th literally just slipped through my fingers. They were available when I first asked and before the cast member could book it, they were gone. We already have our airfare...what am I going to do?

Book at one of the others if avail, usually akl, ssr, okw, ..and waitlist the others. Things shake up after a couple months but not always so it is better to have somewhere to go than nowhere.

That's what we normally would do, but since we're going to California this year there aren't any other resorts to use as a safety net.

I'm so sorry - early December is a busy time there - just like in WDW. Low points and lower crowdes than later in the month. Christmas Decoration, etc.

I would waitlist for what you want and book another hotel that has a short cancellation window at the same time. So you can cancel if you waitlist comes through. This has always been my back up plan for VGC.

If the rooms were almost available, chances are you would be near the top of the waitlist. If it's still not available close to the date, try PPH or DLH.

How frustrating! I am sure you are terribly dissappointed at the moment. However I agree with PP that you should WL (sooner than later) so you can be at the top of the WL and then have a back-up plan just in case. You have a shorter stay so hopefully that should work to your advantage.

I also would call to check on availbilty while on the WL as well. There have been plenty of posts about people who have luck with that!

Good Luck! Here's hoping you get sprinkled with Pixe Dust! :wizard:

Thanks for the Pixie Dust! I had us put on the wait list yesterday for the 4th and then again today for the 5th and 6th. I'm really hoping that it comes through. Does PPH usually have rooms available at a short notice? Part of our problem is we share points with my in-laws so we only have 60 or so points to use each year. Otherwise I would have booked a 1 bedroom or we'd just go ahead and stay at PPH.

If say the 5th becomes available, will I get that day booked automatically or do all three of my nights have to become available for my WL to come through?

We frequently waitlist and have always been able to get moved. I would recommend it.

The back up at DL is DLH or PP hotels or booking offsite. The DLH or PP cost a bit more in points but there isn't a $95 exchange fee and the rule of 4 does not apply. I'd suggest waiting to see if your waitlist fills. (I almost waitlisted the exact same thing yesterday. Heard the exact same thing you were told and seriously considered calling this morning to book the 5th & 6th but I am not the one who snatched them away! ;) ). Then if it's getting closer and it hasn't filled you can book DLH or PP. I would wait though b/c once you book one of those locations your points become reservation points and can no longer be used for a DVC room.

As far as the waitlist filling it's normally only if the days for the full time become available. DVC stopped the day by day waitlisting and the only way to do that is to call back periodically and hope to catch any single days that have opened up.

Thanks for not being the one to take my days!! But then again, if it were you, I'd know who to harass into cancelling their trip! :rotfl:

I'm so glad I have 7 months to freak out over this and you can bet I'll be calling a lot trying to get at least 2 of the 3 days!

All 3 nights have to become available, DVC no longer does individual night waitlists.

We're going to be there that weekend :guilty: (but we booked at the 11 month point :confused3). DH has a conference Mon-Thurs, so we just added on the weekend through Monday. I believe Sunday (Dec 4th) is when they have the Candlelight Processional at DL. I haven't seen it announced, yet, but I believe it is typically the first Sunday in Dec. (I would love to see it. )
Good luck with the wait list (sending some pixie dust your way). :wizard:

I am very conservative and don't book airfare before I have secured a reservation...GOOD LUCK ON THE WAITLIST!:wizard::wizard::wizard:

We were booked at BWV and just got our waitlist for 1 night mid August post cruise at BCV! Quite surprised but very happy!:cool1:Love Stormalong Bay!

This is a 2 part trip and the airfare we got was beyond cheap so we went with it! We'll be in San Diego the later part of the week and thought we'd add in DL since we've always wanted to go.
