Waitlisting for AKL

We are brand new DVC memebers with BLT as our home resort. We have booked our full vacation in early June at BLT but would like to switch part of it to AKL Concierge Level at the 7 month mark. We would like a week at AKL, and would love either part or all of that at the Concierge level. How hard is it to get at the 7-month mark for part or all of a week?

There are only 5 2-bedroom lock-offs that make up the Concierge Level at AKV. A lock-off is a 1-bedroom and a studio with an interior connecting door.

While not impossible to reserve at 7 months, they don't last long if they are available at the 7 month mark.

You would be extremely lucky to get most or all of a full week at seven months out. You'd be lucky to get a few nights at most at seven months out.

You won't want to book this for the view.

Thanks for the answers. We really want to do one of the tours on the conceirge level. We are hoping for a studio for at least part of the week. I will make sure to check online at 8 am the first day of our 7 month out mark. If they have a day or two in the middle of that week will I still be able to book it?

The first night you book will have to be seven months out. So if you are seven months out from when you want to book and the first night isn't available, you can't book anything.

if you call nov 5 to book june 5 for the week and june 5-9 is available but not 10-11, then you can only book june 5-9.

if you call nov 5 to book june 5 for the week and june 7-10 is available but not 5-6 or 11, then you could waitlist for june 5 for the week but you would not have access to booking june 7 until nov 7.

You just have to be staying at AKV to do the Sunset Safari. If you want the Sunrise Safari you have to be staying Concierge. I've done the Sunset and it was great. I'm not a AKV owner so I've never been able to get Concierge to do the Sunrise.

AKL concierge can often be fully booked very early during the 11 month window; in other words even owners often need to act quickly to get it at 11 months out. You need a lot of luck for 7 months out.

Based on comments above, you need to be aware of something else you will not be able to do at 7 months out. You will not be able to have a BLT booking for your entire trip and then change it at 7 months out to switch a couple nights in the middle of your trip to AKV. You will only be able to switch successive nights either at the beginning of your trip or end of it. It works as follows: assume you book 10 nights at BLT; at 7 months out you can cancel any successive nights at the beginning of that trip or at the end of the trip and book AKV for those canceled nights if it is available at 7 months out, e.g., you could change the first two nights of your 10 night trip to AKV or last two nights. However, they will not allow you to just cancel BLT for a couple nights in the middle of your trip and change them to AKV. For example, suppose you have that 10 night BLT reservation and can get nights 6 and 7 at AKV at 7 months out. The only way you can change your BLT reservation to do that is to cancel all nights 1 through 7 or, alternatively, all nights 6 through 10.

We are new owners at AKV and I tried to book a concierge studio for the first week of June at 11 months and they were already booked. Good luck.
