Waitlisting, booking, cancelling, oh my!

Okay - new member here - with an OCT Use Year.

We are currently debating between going back in Nov 2013 (Thanksgiving) and March 2014 (Spring Break)

We just called MS and found the dates we want in Nov are not currently available (this is at our owned resort and around 8 months out). We are thinking at 7 months what we want will be available as people start moving their reservations around to other resorts.

Can we do this?

Make our March 2014 reservation (287 points)
Waitlist our Nov 3013 dates (329 points)
But if the waitlist comes through will they cancel our March reservation to cover the Nov reservation?

So basically, can you do a waitlist with the understanding you are going to have to cancel another reservation to cover the points?

Yes you can do this online or by calling.

When you setup the waitlist you can have it automatically replace the other reservation..putting those points back in your pocket to be used for the new reservation...all automatically!
 
You can do this but I would call MS to set it up. Typically, a waitlist is for the same night already booked. Seeing that you are going to want a completely different trip canceled, I would want to have a CM handle it vs. online so they can put the notes in to clearly show what you want.
