Waitlisting, banking and borrowing Question for my new Ressie

We currently have a dedicated 2 bedroom reserved at Vero for July 23 for 9 nights but also have a Beach Cottage on waitlist up until 1 week prior to arrival.

I booked the 2 bedroom and still have some 2009 points still available. Since I will not be booking another trip right now for 2010 (we also have a Disney March trip booked and a cruise booked for summer, although not Disney) I will need to bank the rest of my 09 points by April (I have a September U/Y).

Do I understand this correctly:
IF (I know a big IF) my waitlist came through before April, MS would take my existing 09 points, use them and take whatever they need from 2010.
IF it is April, I bank my points and then my waitlist came through, MS would take any extra points I would need for the Beach Cottage from my 2010 points, not what I have banked, which, I guess stinks for me.

My 2009 points that are banked will need to be used for a new ressie by August 2011.

Is this all correct and why doesn't Disney let you use the banked points to add to your reservation if you are upgrading?

I have found that what MS is suppose to do and what they do can be two different things.

Your best bet is to have them note your account on how you want the points applied.

We had a wait list last year and they didn't know what points to use. They called me and left a VM. When I called back, they had released our wait list and let someone else have it.

If it becomes available prior to your banking points, then yes, MS will take 2009 points since you are traveling in your 2009 UY. But banking is a final transaction. If you bank 2009 points into 2010, then they are good for reservations from September 1st, 2010 through August 31st, 2011.

What you would be asking is to be allowed to bank the points and then "unbank" them back into your 2009 UY to cover the extra cost of the beach cottage, if it becomes available after April.

I think this is one of the reasons that traveling toward the end of your UY has its drawbacks
