Waitlisted - could I be so lucky? **UPDATE post #17

I just reserved a studio at SSR for Nov. 26-29. It was the only DVC resort available, and I was thrilled to get it on pretty short notice.

I've stayed at SSR before, and I really enjoyed my stay there. But I still decided to waitlist for VWL, BWV, or BCV. I would LOVE for VWL to come up, because it's the only onsite DVC resort I've never tried yet. Plus I hear it is gorgeous at Christmas time.

Realizing that nobody has a crystal ball, do I stand any chance at all of VWL coming up at that time of year? Or is it a huge long shot?

(If nothing comes up on the waitlist, no problem! I'll be very happy at SSR.)

Thats a tough one...I think what can it hurt to stay on the WL...but honestly if you don't have it by the 30 day mark I would say chances are slim. I hope it comes through for you...but SSR is really nice, and who knows.

For your dates I just checked the Disney website...and the following came up
BCV-no avail(for cash)
VWL-no avail(for cash)
BWV-1brdm only(no stuido-for cash)
Okw-1brdm only(no stuido-for cash)

So it looks like Disney does not have any rooms that they will be releasing...SSR was the only place that had Stuido availbility.

Stay on..you never know what will happen some times all you need is one or two to cancel, and then the shuffeling frees up something. ALso sometimes when push comes to shove some people cancel cash ressies, and then disney has rooms they put into circulation.

We were just able to get the BCV for three nights on 1 days notice during the F&W festival. My point is that anything can happen. Good luck.

You really can't tell anything about availability for DVC point reservations by looking at the Disney website. The rooms on the website come from a completely different inventory than do the DVC rooms.

FWIW, I think getting the VWL at this point is possible but not even close to probable. You have a slightly better chance of getting a Pool/Garden room at the BWV (because there are more of these rooms there than at VWL).

Be sure you call MS at the 31 day mark and tell the CM you want to stay on the waitlists - assuming you do, of course. If it were me, I would only do that if I were waitlisted for the entire reservation to come available. I'm not a fan of moving back and forth between resorts.

At the 7 day mark, all waitlists stop. At that point, if you still want to stya elsewhere, then you have to call and hope to get lucky. I'd call at least once per day.

I'm on the waitlist for a studio at the same time, and I am ahead of you! I have a studio at SSR, and am waitlisted for November 23-30 at one of the other resorts, too. I would rather have interior hallways if possible, but I figure that I'm lucky to have found any space at all.

Thanks again for all the info and good wishes. I'll stay on the waitlist a while yet and see what happens. Fortunately, I don't have my heart set on anything except being there, and that part will happen no matter what.

CarolMN, I'm with you. I don't want to move from resort to resort, so I'm waitlisting for the whole stretch. In this case, it's only 3 nights so I'll want to stay put in one place.

Cruelladeville, good luck getting the studio! If it doesn't come through for you either, maybe I'll see you around SSR.

We waitlisted once at Vero Beach for Spring Break. We did end up getting all of the days we wanted, as people started cancelling....

Yes we were. We made last minute reservation for October 6, 7 and 8 at OKW (nothing else was available). On the 5th we called to see if by chance the BCV or BWV was now available and sure enough the BCV's was. The kids really enjoyed SAB. We own at the BCV but hadn't been there in a year so it was nice to go back.

We decided in late August to try for a short trip over Thanksgiving and could not get any studio for 11/23 . So we got ASM and then we'll move to a studio at SSR for 11/24 thru 11/28. We are waitlisted for a studio at BWV, BCV or WL. SSR is our least favorite if we really had to line up resort preferences. But, hey...it sure isn't a hardship staying there! Like you TravelBug, CruellaDeville and 3Pirates, we're just glad to be goin'!

Well, one of my waitlisted resorts came through for my whole stay and I grabbed it. I'll be staying at BCV!!

BCV is one of my home resorts, and I love it there. So I'm VERY excited! I'll look forward to trying out VWL on a future trip sometime.
