Waitlisted 71 days out

I have a one bedroom booked at VWL for May. I just waitlisted for a studio instead, since if we get it, we'll have enough points left over for a late September trip

This will be the 6th time in 14 years we've waitlisted. If it comes through, it will only be the second successful waitlist!

So, what are my chances I wonder?? How about some pixie dust?

Anything is possible but remember all DVC members have had nearly 5 months to get ahead of you on the wait list. There could be dozens of people who booked SSR, OKW, AKV or others at 7 months, and are wait listed for the same dates at VWL.

Keep the faith. Late August of last year I waitlisted a studio at BW for mid-October. It came through at the end of September. I never thought I had a chance because I waitlisted so late for F&W period.

Good luck to you. I've had great luck with waitlists so far in my short time as a DVC owner. Hopefully some of my great luck rubs off on you (but not all of it, cause I'm waiting on a waitlist for BLT right now for October)!!

When did you end your waitlist? 30 days or 7 days? If you get the waitlist at least 31 days out, will you still be able to bank those left over points? BUT, if your waitlist comes in 30 days or less, you have points in holding.

Here is some I booked a May trip for Memorial Day weekend two years ago in March and only SSR was available at the start..by the time the trip happened, I had been able to secure a standard view studio in Jambo at AKV.

So, things change all the time...good luck!!! Your other option is to stalk the website and if a few nights happen, book and then adjust the wait list...I have had luck doing it this way too..the negative though is that you have to be willing to chance if it doesn't work, you will split stay.

Waitlists do come through. It depends on how many days you are waitlisting for though. The more days you are waiting for, the less chance there is for it to come through.

Keep checking the website too to see if any of those days become available so you can book them (if you are okay with a split stay in case you don't get all the days in time)

If you're willing to let it ride until 7 days out I'd say you have an excellent chance of success, up to 30 days, still reasonable but much less. Remember you'll end up with holding account points though but for late Sept that should still be workable.
