Waitlisted 2 nights at VGF for September... a few questions

Hey guys! So we are headed to Disney World for 11 days in September. We wanted to try out a Lakeview studio at the Villas at Grand Floridian for the first 2 nights of our trip (Wed. September 10th, checking out Fri. September 12th).

Anyway, of course I had no problem booking our reservation for Beach Club, and I THOUGHT I'd be okay for September at the 7 month mark to not wake up at 4:45 am (I live on the west coast) and just wake up at 7am PST and make the reservation then. Lo and behold, when I went to book it, both Lakeview and Standard views were completely booked for the 2 days I was hoping for. :(

I immediately put us on a Waitlist for a LV studio for those 2 nights (on February 10th), and figured we'd probably get in pretty quickly... It's only been I guess just over 2 months now, but no luck as of yet! I had put a second waitlist a few weeks later for a standard view, but took that one off just in case I needed a waitlist open for when I was making our VGC reservations (which I surprisingly got no problem at the 7 month mark a few days ago for November - though I learned my lesson and was up at 4:45am ready to make the reservation :thumbsup2).

So, long story short, DVC friends, what do you think our chances are of getting into a LV Studio at the VGF for 2 nights in September? I'm hoping it'll work out since it's a less busy time of year, I got us on the waitlist a few hours after booking opened, and we're only looking for 2 nights mid-week.

OR is there a better way for me to try to get us this reservation? I've always wondered if the waitlist works properly and would immediately give us the 2 nights if they opened up and we were at the top of the list... OR if it doesn't work properly and I should be camping the website? Any advice would be awesome!

If you really want to stay there, I would check regularly and at various times throughout the day. My thought is that most people who book at 7m are sticking with it because they know how hard it is to get the reservation, making the waitlist list unlikely.

Good luck!pixiedust:

I just got a one night waitlist filled for that last week for ?July. About a month ago, I snagged one of two nights before our cruise and hoped for the best. Keep and stalk the website. I was able to snag two nights at BLT in a SV studio just today for that same July trip...it was the on,y room because after I booked, there was no more availability.

Honestly, VGF studios are few in number.....and it's during F&W. I wouldn't hold my breath, but certainly hope for the best.

September 10th-12th is over a week before F&W begins... but I also made these reservations (including putting us on the waitlist for VGF) BEFORE they announced F&W starting a week earlier this year on the 19th. But yeah, I'm starting to think it probably won't happen. I may start to take a look at the DVC site a few times a day though to see if anything opens up... but then again, I'm not going to complain about 11 days at Beach Club Villas, either... and there's always next year! :)

Thanks everyone for the advice!
