Waitlist success, maybe.

I made a foolish decision earlier this month and booked a last minute trip to WDW for Columbus Weekend. I found a decent flight with Southwest and called Member Services to check availability. They had everything except 10/12 & 10/13 in a one bedroom at SSR. I decided to make a leap of faith that the waitlist would work out and booked the flights. Well... I called central reservations to get those two nights in a moderate and they were all booked so I chose Pop Century as a last resort. I think I might have been lucky to get that. I called Member Services today to check on my waitlist and they were able to get a one bedroom at SSR for the 13th. I have certainly learned my lesson to not take the waitlist for granted. Hopefully moving back and forth between resorts won't be to bad and disrupt the whole vacation.

also make my SW reservation on the computer when I am talking to MS.

Thanks for all your kind and encouraging words. I am trying to look on the positive side of all this. We are going to Disney after all. If we have to change resorts maybe I won't overpack because I have to move it twice. Or maybe I'll just get a bigger suitcase.

I called MS yesterday to check availability on Oct 16th as we need that one night DVC (have a POR backup). Have been on the WL for close to a month but nothing yet. CM checked availability and came up with nothing for a 2BR at any DVC resort. CM didn't seem to understand why I was calling looking for availability when I'm on the waitlist. Acted like if there was a room available it would automatically match as soon as the room became available. I don't think that's always the case. There's too many posts about people calling and getting a room.

Can you keep everything held at SSR, except for an overnight bag? That wouldn't be too bad. Maybe plan a special adventure for that day at POP?

Whenever I call Member Services to check on the waitlist I try to be extra nice so they don't post my name on the "problem member" list. I use my teenage DD as an excuse because anything can set off the hormones and turn the day into a "bad teenager day" so whatever help they can give is appreciated. This has worked so far.
