I know this is old news, but I wanted to waitlist for BWV or BLT, CM said okay pick a view, I said it didnt matter, have plenty of points, so either resort, just a 1br. He said nope, had to pick view. IDK, IMHO, this just seems dumb, that you can't pick a resort and if you are telling them whatever view comes up, you will take it?

Am I missing something here as to why this makes sense?

I'm with you and do not like the new rules about just having 2 active waitlists per UY. I hope you get something!

I could not agree with you more. If you are willing to take a room in a certain size, regardless of view or points, why not be able to have a "blanket" waitlist? I have two waitlists tied up right now for November for 1 night for a 2 BR at BCV, and even though I don't care what I get I had to waitlist for 2 of the 3 booking categories. So I can't even cover all my options, even though I don't care what I get.

Dumb.

I couldn't agree more with all the above. All you want is anything! And they want you to be specific and pick views. What if your view pick does not come up but another view does? This shouldn't cause you to lose a trip!

I would pick Preferred at BWV and Lake at BLT, because you don't care and they are the most plentiful.

Although it doesn't matter to you, those various views do have different points costs, so it's a logical requirement now that waitlists are fulfilled automatically.

Previously, they could call you and say, "Here's what we have and here's how many points...do you want it?" But those days have sadly been "enhanced."

I can just imagine the wails if a member got charged more points than they wanted to spend because a waitlist came through. We'd have another drama thread!

The two WL's per use year rule is just plain silly.

I totally agree! And I find myself calling MS every so often to check on the "other views" for the same resort that I couldn't WL for. So it seems to me it's a waste of time for the people who have to answer the phones and keep checking for me!!!

In the absence of a good automated WL system, it's a necessary evil to keep them as limited as possible.

I agree it is dumb!! And I think it creates more phone calls to MS for people to check on anything else that might be available. But I guess they could do away with waitlists all together....

I do understand why they felt the need to limit but I think that there should be a way to wait list a whole resort and have it count as 1 WL or say that if you wait list an entire resort that has more than 2 views, that is all you can have. This way, there would be flexibility in terms of matches.

I know when I wanted to stay at BLT, I wait listed two of the views but was then forced to call daily to check the other view.

And they likely will at some point or make them part of a VIP option.
