I'm going to book a (relatively) last minute trip for 8/27-31 and would like to waitlist so that we can spend all four nights at one resort.

Our UY is December, so my banking deadline is July 31st. Ack. And of course the cancellation deadline would be July 26th. So I've got just a few weeks to make the magic happen lol!

So the question is, how do I best go about booking rooms that are available now, and then adding the waitlisted rooms?

And what rooms pop up quicker -- studios or 1 bedrooms? Or does the room type not matter but rather the resort?

TIA!!

There are several options.
1. Book the nights that are available now and waitlist the other night(s). I would suggest booking a room at another resort so you have a room to fall back on if the waitlist doesn't come through.
2. Waitlist the entire stay, not suggested.

If you book what you can and waitlist the night you need, I would keep checking availability. Often you can find a room available before the waitlist comes through.

Which rooms come up quicker? It probably depends on the resort and time of year and how many of each type of room are available at that resort. In general, we've had more luck waitlisting a 1 bedroom than a studio, but that doesn't necessarily mean much.

Thanks! I'm on hold with MS now :) I think I will book what I can now, waitlist, and have a backup! I may have to bank points first so I don't risk losing any.

Know what resort you can book and what you are considering waitlisting could help with strategy.

Thanks everyone! I had a great CM yesterday and I booked my first night at SSR, then the next three nights in a standard 1BR at BWV. Waitlisted the first night for BWV so hopefully that comes through. If not, no big deal. I hadn't considered BWV before because my girls think the clown pool is the creepiest (lol), but I told them they'd get over it

The CM explained if my waitlist came through it would automatically replace SSR with the BWV room. I was afraid I'd have to manually cancel that reservation and risk losing those points, but that is not the case.

That sounds like the good way to do it. Good luck with the waitlist!
