Thanks in advance everyone for answering my questions. I’m a new DVC member so I’m totally in the dark on waitlists.

First, do they send you an email when your room request you waitlisted is fulfilled?

Second, is putting a full week on the waitlist a long shot? I’m not sure if they won’t fill a week stay on the waitlist until and entire week comes avail? Maybe it’s better to waitlist a 4 night stay and then put in a second waitlist for the last three nights?

Lastiy, we originally booked a one bedroom at RIV for September but now decided we wanted to do 2 standard studios. I know the resort is new but what are my chances of getting both standard studios before next September? I’m just not familiar with how often the waitlist saves the day lol

The waitlist fills only when all nights are there. They do not hold nights that show up until then either so the longer the waitlist, the harder it is to have it filled,

SV studios will be a long shot but you certainly can try as way as continue to stalk and book nights when you can.

Definitely having shorter nights is better but could result in a split stay.

However if sales pick up and they declare more rooms, then it will increase chances.

When a waitlist does fill, your reservation will change on a dashboard and you will get a new email with it too.

1) That has been my experience recently, yes. You get an email that says, "We can't wait to welcome you home..."

2) A lot more depends on where and when IMO. But yes, a shorter waitlist will fill before a longer waitlist unless you are at the top of the waitlist and someone cancels your exact dates.

3) Riviera is new. COVID should be a non-issue and demand should be high as points that were conserved in 2020 get spent in 2021. Historically, Sept is on the edge of Fall Frenzy - lots of people want to stay in an Epcot resort to visit Food and Wine. I would not be super optimistic.

Waitlist is fun. It can work - especially for shorter stays and lower demand options. But I have put requests into waitlist at exactly 7 months out and it has never come through.

Thanks for this question. We were just talking about this last night. Hubby just changed his dates due to the SW half marathon cancellations, and took a preferred RIV view for first of March, but would rather standard. we haven't had much luck w waitlisting, but guess it couldn't hurt to try. But it's also 6 nights, so longshot. Thanks for the info here.

So we have a trip the first week of June. At 11 months I booked at my home resort, then at 7 months switched to BLT. All but 1 of the nights -right in the middle of the week- was available in a standard. So I booked those and booked the other night in a lake view. I did one waitlist for the whole week in a standard and a second for the one night. Yesterday I got a call that they had a waitlist come through for the whole week. He even stated that he saw what I was trying to do and "the whole week was the waitlist that" he was fulfilling. He took care of everything on his end - cancelling the waitlists and my cobbled together trip. My dashboard looks much prettier now. lol. I had also been stalking the reservations in case that day opened up (I had other days that I had managed to grab this way), but the waitlist solved that issue first. So, it works! And now the rest of the days I had booked are available to someone else.
