Waitlist questions

So I just booked my first DVC stay for a 2 night getaway in January at AKL. The first night we are at a standard room at Jambo house, the second night we have to switch to a savannah room in Jambo house. Not a big deal if we have to move but I waitlisted the second night and am hoping *not* to have to.

1) I did not get a confirmation number for my waitlist- is this normal???

2) Should I call up daily (I don't have a log in yet) and check or do they really take care of that?

They don't give confirmation numbers for wait lists as you don't have a "confirmed" reservation.

If you want to call daily to check on the wait list you can. As soon as you are set up to access DVC online you can then check many times each day if you want to. I was able to "move" my F &W reservations by a combination of online booking, wait listing & checking availability online myself. Some wait lists came through for me but I was also able to pick up some days by checking online myself for some days of my wait listed time frame and altering the wait lists as I picked up days. You only need one day so you have a much better chance of the wait list coming through or finding availability yourself. Did you wait list both days for the alternate room type so if one doesn't come through but the other does then you won't need to move?

Just be sure that if one comes through you cancel the wait list for the other. Since they are for different nights it won't automatically cancel out.
