Waitlist Question..

Hi,

Sorry for the dumb question but I was just curious..

When you waitlist do you choose to be contacted directly by MS or with a confirmation letter. MS "highly recommended" we wait for a confirmation letter. I chose to hear directly from them. I was just curious on what the "experts" out there prefer to do..

When we waitlisted for OKW we had the option of either automatically accepting the booking or hearing from MS.

If you wait to hear from MS i believe you have 2 days after they call to accept the reservation.

We automatically accepted the booking and received the confirmation letter in the mail.

I'm not certain what you If you mean by "hear directly from them". If you mean you wish to be notified by telephone, keep in mind that fi you miss the call, the day will be given to the next person on the list.

I prefer to use the daily auto-waitlist, where they will automatically make the reservation, one day at a time- as they become available. I have always gotten my full reservation in this fashion. They notify me by printed confirmation letter.

If you want autoconfirm for the entire ressie, they have to wait until your exact dates become available at one time, but they do not save days towards that goal.

Admittedly, the one-day-at-a-time method allows for the possiblity of a missing day in the middle, but thus far, I've never been disappointed!

Thanks for the info guys.. especially about the "daily auto list" - I may give that a try..

Doc I did have another question for you....

You say "keep in mind if you miss the call" - wouldn't MS leave me a message on my answering machine if the waitlist came thru....

I am not sure if this is standard or they could hear the desperation in my voice a few months ago, but I did auto confirm with a phone call (to get me out of the $449 a night shell shock) followed by a letter.

Also, to answer the question, yes, they will leave a message and you have until 5pm the next day to call back and accept.
always do a day by day wait and have been happy several times.
(Keep in mind to ask for the up to 7 days out - which requires auto confirm.)

I know I had to ask to remain on the waitlist after 31 days out. What happens at 7 days out? Do I need to request that separately?

I am not sure. Maybe different MS people call this different things. Camille told me to ask for the 7 day list.
