1. was curious how the wait-list works. I have a SSR studio res for 2/16-19th was hoping to get the 14th and 15th also, but i know those are hard days. the person i rented from is now out of points and I was curious if another member could/would be allowed to waitlist me?

They would be allowed to, but it might be hard to find someone who would do it. The owner would probably be more interested in a sure thing. But try looking for someone who has points in "holding" status -- that means they can only be used for a reservation 60 days out or less. They might be willing to try it for you, since those points can be harder to rent out. You might get the 15th, but with the holiday, the 14th is unlikely to come through, I would think. But good luck.

If you find a member willing to rent you a reservation for those 2 days, they can call and check for availability. If nothing is available, they could put in a wait list for you.

However, I don't think that you will find many willing to do this without payment of some sort. And, if the wait list doesn't happen, how much would you be willing to lose?

If there is availablity they can book it and then you would have to give them your other reservation # and ask MS to link the two.

So your saying there is a "cost" to the member to use the waitlist?

Not an actual cost, but a risk for the owner's points. If the waitlist comes through, the points are taken from their account and the reservation is booked.

I can't imagine anyone willing to do this without some payment up front.

And, if you pay something, and then the waitlist doesn't come through prior to the 31 day mark (when points go in to holding), then what? The owner has to go through the step of refunding your money?

Just not something that I think many owners are going to do without asking you to pay something for their trouble. I don't rent my points so maybe I am way off base. Good luck!!

so it would be better to just have someone keep trying to get a res for 2/15?
