We are currently on the waitlist for 2 nts in the middle of a planned stay. We are booked for Sun-Wed and Fri, but are waitlisted for Wed and Thurs. (Thanksgiving week--yikes!)

If we were to book a "back-up" for those 2 nights, can you set it up so if the waitlist comes through they cancel the other reservation for those same nights?

Or, do I just need to keep my eyes out and if the waitlist comes through (:worship:) then cancel the back-up ressie?

TIA! :)

The normal set up is that when the waitlist fills they automatically cancel the existing reservation. You should confirm that with a phone call but I believe this is the default procedure

I know they can link a wait list request to a reservation so it's automatically cancelled when the wait list comes through. That's how it normally works, and you don't need to commit double-points for those night. But I'm not sure how it works if you have the waitlist first without another booking. You don't want to lose your place in the wait list line.

I would call back and ask them for an update on whether or not your wait list has come through. When they tell you it hasn't, ask them if there are rooms available at any resort. If there are, you need to discuss how you can book those rooms as a backup without losing your place in line for your current wait list, and without having to commit additional points.
