waitlist question - replacing a 2night stay w/ 2 1 day waitlists

I'm trying to wrap my head around exactly how waitlists work, and am hoping y'all can help.

Say I book a 2 night stay at SSR, and then waitlist each of those days separately at BWV. If day 1 came through on my waitlist, would it shorten the SSR stay to 1 day? Or would I need to book the SSR stay as 2 single days in order for this to work.

I'm just trying to come up with a gameplan for our F&W weekend trip next year, which I know will take some waitlisting and luck. We'll need to purchase some OTU points, which is why I want to book something (anything that's available, basically) before putting in a waitlist.

You are dealing with a CM who needs to understand your instructions and you hope that they don't make an error. What happens is day 2 is filled but not day 1?

I'm willing to gamble on them being filled at different times... but it sounds like it's probably better to make the reservations that they'd be replacing as single days, so there's no confusion?

That would reduce the chance for error of the entire SSR reservation being replaced with one night.

Cool. Thanks for the confirmation. I suspected it might be the best (if slightly convoluted) way to get around problems, given other waitlist oopsies that I've seen on the boards.
