Waitlist Question--Matched but Not Booked?

:confused3 I'm confused...and am hoping someone with more experience can confirm info MS gave to me...

While on the phone to double-check whether a waitlist was "set up" correctly, MS noted that I had a "match" for one of my waitlisted nights and would send it the match to the waitlist person to book me the room. I asked her whether she could book/reserve the room for me while on the phone to make sure that I got the room and she put me hold, typed in a few things, and told me no. The computer system would not allow her reserve the room for me because their waitlist system has it on hold. She said that waitlist rooms are held for waitlisted people, and we have "priority" to these rooms. However, the waitlist match has to be manually booked by an actual person.

In reading all of the threads here, I guess that makes sense. What I was confused about was why (if she was right) she couldn't manually book the room for me. I'm just concerned that the room will get "snatched up" by someone else (much like what happens if MS is not fast enough while reserving your room on the phone).

Can anyone provide insight on whether my MS was correct? :rolleyes1 Thanks!

Don't worry - if she saw the match, you have the reservation. The match she refers to is in a special file, not floating around in inventory for anyone to grab. It takes a human being to make the reservation after a waitlist match. The computer just finds the match, takes it out of inventory and puts it in the special file. The match is assigned to you - no one else will get it.

The CM you spoke to may or may not have been capable of finishing up the waitlist reservation. It's a matter of training and also of policy. First priority in a call center is getting the phones answered. Finishing up waitlist reservations is probably assigned to a special small group of CMs, who also answer phone calls when it gets busy.

Congrats! You got your waitlist. Keep an eye on the members' website and you will soon see the new reservation.

Thanks so much for your response! I started obsessively checking dvcmember.com to see if it would show up. Now I'll stop worrying about it  If only my other night would show up as well :yay:

I was told it could take up to 7 days for it to post onto the member website. What did you have booked and what did you get from the wl?

You mentioned there was a match for one of your waitlisted nights. My understanding is that if you have multiple nights on the waitlist, it will not reserve until all of the nights come through.

It sounds like the OP has 2 waitlists - one for each night...

I think its actually really great that they have to use a special process to book waitlisted rooms. I would hate to see what has happened to regular guests through MS happen to those with a wait list. (I'm referring to the cases where they are trying to change a reservation from one resort/room to another and while they are releasing one and reserving the other both end up lost)

Oops sorry I wasn't clear. I'm only staying 3 nights post cruise, so I waitlisted 2 nights separately (they had the 1st night available).

I just checked this morning on dvcmember.com and the WL was processed so now the *matched* night shows up :cool1:

I'm not sure my MS knew when it would be processed. It just happened to be around 5:20 p.m. when I called so she said that it will get processed sometime in the morning. I checked first thing and it was there :)

This was for AKV Kidani 2BR lockoff Savannah (12/21--one night only).

I am surprise they let you put in the two WL's for consecutive nights. But, I am glad that one came through. I would double check (and maybe you did) that your WL for that last night is still there.
