Waitlist quandry: calling all experts

I have a waitlist that I created on day one of the seven month window. The waitlist is for six night. I have since picked up three of those nights, so I now only need the remaining three. If I cancel the original waitlist of six nights and create a new waitlist for the three nights I now need it seems I would have a better chance of getting it, BUT I would lose my "place in line", as the new waitlist would have been made a couple of months after day one of my seven month window.

What would the experts do? Cancel the six night waitlist with the early date in line and create a waitlist of the three nights i now need but with a later date OR just keep the six night waitlist with the early date? I do have a second waitlist going (and we can only have two), but there are so many views and room catagories (lock-off or non lock-off,) that it makes the process a bit difficult.

Help!

I just cancelled a wait list I had for BWV Standard for 2 nights & changed it to 2 separate wait lists for BWV Garden/Pool View. I think I might have a better chance with the separate requests in the room type that is more plentiful at this point. I do have another room reserved elsewhere in case the wait lists don't come through though. I've found that the less nights you have on the wait list the better the chance that you will get what you need. I liked it better when MS was able to individually wait list each night you needed. I pretty much always was able to get what I needed then. The two wait list limit is way too restrictive in some cases.

I would call MS and see if they can modify your waitlist.

I would cancel the wait list and redo it for what you need. While you will be at farther up the list, wait lists only fill when all nights are available.

So, being closer to the top doesn't necessarily help you. If the 3 nights you really need become available while you are waitlisting all 6 nights, you will be bypassed for someone farther down the list who needs exactly those nights.

Good luck!

First, assuming you are going no matter what, do you have a back up reservation? If not, I'd make one, even if it is for a split stay.

If you have a back up, then for sure I would cancel the 6 night waitlist and waitlist for the 3 nights you need. Again, I am assuming that the 3 nights you already have are consecutive so that at most, 2 waitlists would cover the remaining nights. I agree with Sandi - the process will bypass the 6 night waitlist if less than 6 nights become available.

That's one waitlist - which is for the exact same booking category as the nights you have already booked. For the other, I would either choose a different booking category at the same resort (easier move) and waitlist for 3 nights, or I would waitlist the 6 nights for something at SSR or (largest number of rooms and fewer booking categories per room size). If you are willing to move, you could also waitlist SSR for the 3 nights you need instead.

If you get any of the waitlists and what you got wasn't "perfect", you can change the waitlist and hope for pixie dust. AT lest you will have improved your reservation.

Good luck!
