Waitlist or keep calling?

I've waitlisted for the first week in December. You may even remember my recent thread regarding the probability of our getting the two bedroom. Anyway, I called yesterday and two of the days were available. I didn't do anything because we already have two studios reserved with most of our points. After thinking about it last night, we decided to go ahead and reserve what they had, thus reducing the number of days needed to waitlist for. I called back this morning and neither of those two days were available but interesting enough, a completely different night of the seven needed was. I went ahead and reserved it and waitlisted for the rest.

Question: Is it just as good to just keep calling to see what's available and add days as they become so?

If you tell them you will wait list day-by-day, they call you every time something becomes available. Theoretically, you calling them shouldn't make a difference. Some people feel it does help to call but I'm not sure whether it's coincidence that when you call something is available.

They will call you eventually, supposedly, it's a peace of mind thing for me, to call regularly and check up on it. I can't tell you how many times I've called to just check and a CM comes back and says, you have a match, didn't they call you? I wonder how many times a match shows up and maybe know one gets around to calling, does the computer eventually eliminate the match? Hmmmm, no system is infallible, so I check frequently.

I just waitlisted for a November trip at the BWV (any view) or the BCV. I do have points booked for the trip already at OKW. I figure I'll call occasionally...not every day, maybe once a week or so, just to say hi and see if anything pops up. My theory about the waitlist is that the closer you get to your dates, the better the chances of something being available, as I think most people end up cancelling a trip closer to their travel dates, not 4 or 5 months out.

Thanks for the responses! My only problem is that I must bank points by 9/30/03 so I have to have a reservation confirmed for either the 2 bedroom or the two studios by then. The probability of the full seven nights becoming available before then is unlikely. I guess I will call every three or four days just to check-especially since I got conflicting info between yesterday and today. Also-when I called back to confirm today, they had used my HH points to book the one night at BCV in the two bedroom....I never asked that they use from those points, as I have adequate BCV points and plan to bank my HH points. The CM was very confused and had to put me on hold several times.

I just found out that we got 3 days of our 4 days we were waitlisted for a studio at BCV in October! This was the first time we had ever done a waitlist....actually it is our first trip home after becoming members......but i did want to say that i never did get a call confirming the waitlist, i got a mail confirmation about 8 days after the fact. I did call to make sure and the CM confirmed it for me....anyway, don't know if this was an unusual situation or a new way of doing it! Just thought i would let you know. Still waiting on a waitlist for Friday/October 24!

I was wondering this too. I'm still waitlisted at BWV for a 2 bedroom standard view for Nov 30 and Dec 1 and I've already gotten Dec 2 thru 5th. I've got the automatic where they just send me a confirmation...no call.

Should I be calling? Should I split Nov 30 and Dec 1 waitlists to day-by-day? I'm so afraid to do that cause what if I get Nov 30 but never get Dec 1? I'd be moving 3 times!

I found out here that someone got all their nights at BWV for a 2 bedroom standard view at the 7 month window by doing day-by-day which really upset me as I've been waitlisted since the 11 month window. This leads me to believe that day-by-day is a better way to go but you ARE taking risks. I just can't bring myself to take that risk.

I always feel like a pain when I call to check so I try to come up with other excuses! I requested a bed rail one time! Added a name to the reservation another time! Do others call to check on waitlists? Does MS mind?

Yikes! It concerns me that they just add the days without a phone call because I don't have that many spare points. I will be cancelling the two studios if the waitlist comes through. What a dilemma?!?

actually, they only do it(just add), if you have points available...at least accd to CM......

I believe when you set up the waitlist, they will NOT call and do it automatically if that is how you set it up. Otherwise, they will call and ask if you want whatever has come available. So you need to be sure of how you set up your waitlist.

I chose the automatic confirmation so that is why I get a letter and not a phone call.
