I know it's a long shot, but I'm hoping to get a studio for 12/19 & 12/20/2007 - prefer VWL but any DVC at WDW is more than acceptable.
Should I bother to go on waitlists, or just call every day once it hits the 7-day point? I figure going on a waitlist now is pointless because the lists are probably still long. Since waitlists stop at 7 days before checkout, any advice on my chances?
tia :)

Wait list now and start calling at 7 days.

Definately call.....

I could be wrong.....but I thought the waitlist stops at 30 days before.

Nope... 7 days before.

Yuppers! I had a split stay for VWL, 2 nights in a 1 BR and 2 nights in a studio. I realized that we didn't want to be homeless on Christmas day, switching to a studio (what was I thinking?? Save points??) So I went on a waitlist 3 weeks ago and found out that on Tuesday 12/4 we got our 1 BR for 12/25 and 12/26. Woo Hoo!!!

I say waitlist and still call multiple times a day NOW. You wouldn't believe how much the inventory changes from minute to minute. You could call, get one night, call back on the same day and get the other night...I don't think you'll have any problems! Heck, 3 of our 5 nights for XMAS week in a 2 BDR and a studio kept coming up yesterday at SSR! I think if you call multiple times today, you'll find your 2 nights. If it were me, I'd aim for the biggest resorts (OKW and SSR), and then waitlist for VWL once I knew that I'd secured a reservation somewhere.

That's because you had the luck of the moose with you! I think that moose is Irish!

When I waitlisted recently- I was given the choice of having my waitlist expire 30 or 7 days before check-in. I chose 7 as I suspect most people would- but I guess some do expire at 30 days.

You know, I think you may be right. And that same day I got reservations for Hoop De Doo, cat 1 for 12/26. I still don't believe it!:cool1:

The waitlists expire at 30 days. If you want to stay on a waitlist until the 7 day mark, you must call and specifically request that. It is not automatic.

There is no waitlisting past the 7 day mark. All waitlists expire at 7 days. At that point, if you still want something, you have to call and hope to get lucky.

Well we just got back from two weeks at OKW. I tried waitlisting for a 2 bedroom (had a one bedroom) or a studio for some of the days that we were there. I kept calling (even when we were there), but could not get a two bedroom or studio. What I could not understand were two incidents that happened while we were there:
1) We went to the front desk to discuss our problem and after a Castmember went in the back and spoke with someone in Operations, they told us that they could not transfer the points, etc, but gave me the name of the person who stated that a two bedroom would be available if we called Member Services early the next day. When I called the next day (right when they opened) and discussed this with Member Services (including the name of the person in Operations), they stated their was nothing they could do but to keep calling.
2) I kept calling and Member Serivices could not provide a two bedroom or studio BUT a one bedroom for three days became available. We did not want to use the extra points for a separate one bedroom, but had no choice. What galled me is that the studio adjacent to our room was empty each of the days that we needed. I truly do not understand why it (if not others) were not available to me (or others) and that there was no regard for any coordinating efforts between operations at OKW and Member Services.

I am going Dec 15 - 22 and have a 1 br. My fiancee has to work, so I'll be going alone. :sad2: I feel so decadent having the 1br, and I want to downgrade to a studio and put the points in holding. I call once a day to see if one opens up, but so far no luck. Suggestions anyone?
