Waitlist/Hold question

We have a trip planned for the end of December through the first week of January.
We have a ressie and a waitlist request for a preferred resort. Tomorrow is the 31st day of the waitlist.

This is our first time waitlisting.....

Let's say we keep the waitlist going past the 31st day. If it comes through what happens??
Unsure about deactivating it or keeping it going.

Is the waitlist reservation less points? If so, if the waitlist fills the extra points will go into holding. You can decide if you want that.

If it's equal or more points, I would keep it going.

One is more and one is less...
If they go into holding I have to use them before my use year?? correct?

Yes, AND you can only book 60 days or less from checkin.
