I'll be doing my first GVC stay on 7/1, I'm so excited! My family is doing my birthday dinner there that night, so just for fun I decided to put myself on the waitlist for a studio. Lo and behold it came though today! Now I don't have to worry about driving home after dinner!

I almost feel silly asking this, but because I live locally I've never stayed at any of the hotels at Disneyland, even though I've been to the parks hundreds of times. What shouldn't I miss? I would love to have the true "resort" experience! Thanks!

Melissa

Have you put down on your ressie that it will be your bday celebration? Never hurts as it might get you a great view or something. Have a great bday & a great stay!

Now that your waitlist came through call Member Services and put in a request for a Paradise Pier View upper floor. This will give you the best view of World of Color which will be open by then.

Check in as early as you can. If your room is ready you can start enjoying right away. The pool is nice, you could relax there and enjoy a beverage or two from the pool bar and let the waiters bring it to you.

If you go to the parks before your birthday, pick up a birthday button so you can wear it when you check in. I did that for my Birthday on 5/1 where we also stayed (even though we're locals).

I assume that you're having dinner at Napa Rose, if the staff there know it's your birthday they'll bring you little tidbits. I've got two links in my signatures, one has a bunch of photos of the hotel, and if you check out the posts towards the end of my Food & Wine Review, you'll see how they dressed up my dessert on my Birthday.

So I'm 24 minues away from Disneyland in Long Beach, where are you from?

Pull up a rocking chair and sit in the fireplace (lobby) -- hopefully at a time when the pianist is working his/her magic.

I really enjoyed the power walk the resort offers through California Adventure early in the morning. It's free and a fun opportunity to see the park when it is almost empty. You might also consider renting a private cabana at the Mariposa pool, especially if there's a game on you would like to watch. Have fun. Wish I lived so close to Disneyland!

Oh, indeed! Thanks for that great reminder! :thumbsup2

Is this offered every morning? I always want to be at the gate early so I never do this but we will be arriving late tomorrow night and since it's a Grad nite Disneyland doesn't open until 9am so I'm considering doing this. It is usually at 7:30, isn't it?

Congratulations on the wait list. We're waiting for a date in September to fill in the middle of our trip. I hope we are as lucky!

Thanks! I was only on the wait list for about a week. I was stunned it came through so quickly!
