I know we probably do not have a prayer of a chance for either resort, but will we have a better chance of waitlisting for BCV or BWV for the Sunday before to Frday after Thanksgiving - 2 BR? I will be calling day by day. We are currently booked at our home resort at SSR and will keep that booking as I also waitlist. Taking the parent's for their first full WDW vacation and while we love SSR and are happy to stay there, my mother really likes the Epcot resort area after we took them to breakfast at Cape May Cafe several years ago. FYI - I did call to see what was available as of today and I was told BWV standard view 2BR was available Sunday and Monday and BCV had a 2 BR available Sunday night only. Isn't standard view the hardest to get at BWV?
I really appreciate anyone's insight

It's really hard to predict the waitlist. However, since the BWV are larger than the BCV, my guess is that the BWV waitlist has a better chance of coming through for you. Of course, none of us has a way to know how many members are on the waitlist ahead of you. MS doesn't even know that,

Yes, standard view units are typically more difficult to get than the Pool/Garden units. IMHO, they are usually just a little more difficult to get than the guaranteed Boardwalk view units. Apparently, when you called, there was SV availability and neither of those two nights fit anyone's waitlist.

If it were me, I'd waitlist for all 3 booking categories at the BWV - SV, PV (Boardwalk) and PV (Pool/Garden) as well as all 3 at the BCV (lock off, dedicated w 2Q and dedicated with 1Q & a sleep sofa). I'd waitlist for all the days to become available at once, so there was no chance of having to move back and forth. In this case, if one of the waitlists came through, the others would be automatically canceled. You could cancel the SSR reservation at the same time - or better yet, cancel it after the other reservation were secured (provided you had enough points to do it that way).

If you have enough points to hold the SSR reservation until the other reservation is secured, I'd pick one option (probably the Pool/Garden at BWV because that category has the most units) and waitlist for each day individually. That will give you a better chance of securing the reservation. I wouldn't do it that way if I didn't have the points to hold the SSR reservation until the other was totally completed, because I wouldn't want to chance moving back and forth between resorts during that very busy period. If you do this, keep your banking deadlines in mind.

Good luck - hope your Mom gets to stay in the EPCOT resorts area.

Thank you, CarolMN-
I don't have enough points to hold two full reservations for five nights but I do have enough points to have a separate reservation for Tues, Wednesday and Thursday of Thanksgiving week to have as a back up as I waitlist day by day for either BWV or BCV for the full five days. In the event the waitlist does not come through for all five nights, I want to be able to stay at SSR for the full five nights. I have reserved Tue, Wed. and Thurs nights on the second reservation as I figured that it would be easier to get a reservation at SSR for Sun & Mon nights closer to Thanksgiving if the waitlist does not come though for all five days . Gosh, I hope that makes sense! You confirmed my suspicions that BWV preferred view is probably our best shot. Do you have any suggestions on how long to hold out for the waitlist before deiciding to stick with SSR. I will have my back-up reservation for the last three nights but I will have to leave some time to get Sun & Mon back on the SSR reservation (I assuming my waitlist will come though for Sun & Mon).

Oh, and thanks for reminding me about my banking deadline. I didn't even think about that! Fortunately, I will be OK because I have until March to bank my points and the trip will be over before then!

Thanks again for your help!

Hard to say - as you say, the key will be making sure you can get the 2 days at SSR if the waitlist doesn't work out. Maybe give MS a call every so often to see what SSR availability looks like for those days. Once it starts getting tight there, I'd throw in the towel on the day by day waitlists. Obviously, you don't want to end up without a spot for Sunday and Monday nights. Consider waitlisting for the whole trip to become available all at once at BCV - you could keep that right up until the bitter end, since if it doesn't come through, you'll still have SSR, and if it does, you won't have to move.
