Waitlist for 12/31

I had to change my December trip to Dec 26th to Jan 4th. I was able to get all nights except New Years. I put in two waitlists. One at BCV for 2 bedroom lock off (my other nights are at this resort). My second waitlist is at BLT studio for one night. I was hoping not to move resorts. Will they string the reservations together if my waitlist comes through at BCV? Should I reserve a backup hotel reservation just case neither waitlist comes through? Thanks...

If the BCV comes up, and it's the same sort of villa you already have it could be linked together with what you have for a seamless stay.

For NYE 2016, I had a waitlist for a studio at OKW come through. I do not own at OKW, so had to wait until 7 months to book our NYE reservation there. We wound up with Dec. 29-31 at BLT ( I do own there) and Dec. 31 - Jan 4 OKW, both studios.

You currently have two separate reservations. If Dec 31 comes through at BCV, you will still have separate reservations. To assure they are all combined, you should contact MS after the wait list comes through to merge the reservations. In other words, do not assume MS will automatically do it (it may), even if you have already put a notation in with MS to do so.
And because it is Dec 31, you probably should reserve the night at one of the Disney resorts to be be safe. Have you tried going through Disney's central reservations to see if the BCV 2BR is open for that night?

There's always a chance and people's plans do change. Also in your favor is time - there is still more than 9 months to 12/31., and you just have a one night waitlist.

As you may already know, 12/31 is the single highest demand night of the year for DVC. Villas book very quickly. My advice is is to check every so often just in case you get lucky and see it in inventory before it disappears to the waitlist program. Sont' depend only on the waitlist.


As Bobbi posted, MS can merge everything together if you get lucky! Good luck!

P.S. I'd make a back up plan if I were going no matter what (committed because of airfare, for example).

If we are still beyond the 7 month mark for your trip -- can you really waitlist your non-home resort? or do you own BLT as well? Sorry i'm just a little confused

Booking a back up is never a bad idea -- you can always cancel if something happens to come though with your waitlist

Yes, I own at BLT as well. Otherwise, I would not be able to waitlist until the 7 month mark.

Thanks... I looked online and since I'm reserving a two bedroom it would $1482 for a cash reservation. A studio is like $649 for the night. A little out our budget. I'll definitely boook a backup somewhere like at Disney's Art of Animation. Do you think I'll get better luck by calling versus looking online?

Wow, what high prices. If you mean getting a reservation at another Disney resort for cash, either calling or going online should work, but might want to call to see if there any special offers going on. If you mean getting Dec 31 at BCV on points, you need to actually check the Resort Availability Tool on the member site frequently because sometimes an opening happens during the day and shows up online for anyone to reserve before it can be assigned to a wait list.

I wouldn't be quite so pessimistic. Some people book their home resort and wait-list the one they actually want. Many cancel for all sorts of different reasons, especially as it gets closer. In fact, I've booked hard-to-get days (especially ADRs) "just in case" and have cancelled well in advance. This far out, it's at *least* 75% chance a wait-list will come through.

Have you thought about booking at the Swan and Dolphin for that night? We have booked extra nights there before.
