Waitlist dilemma - should I cancel it?

OK - I know this is one of those tough questions in life :lmao: but here is the situation. We are booked in a 2-BR Kidani savannah view for June 1 -6 this year. We are then booked in a 2-BR at VWL for June 6 -11. We have never stayed at either. Here is the dilemma. DH and I can't decide if we should cancel out waitlist for AKV (2-BR savannah @ Kidani) and just stick with the VWL reservations. At first we thought we would definitely want to stay at one resort the whole time but now we are thinking that we may want to give VWL a try. I know that our waitlist may or may not come thru. I think my real problem is that I can think of pros and cons on both side of the argument and neither side is winning.

So if you were us, what would you do?

I would do the split stay. I did a split stay of four days each in two resorts and it was great.

I would not be happy at the same resort for 10 days, but others hate to split stays. If you do not have a strong feeling either way, why not just let the “wait list fairies” decide.

Now if you have young children with you I would definetly keep the VWL portion

Pros and Cons...

VWL is a beautiful lodge with great boat transportation to the MK. Usually it is the smaller boats which are lots of fun and much more fun than a crowded bus.

Staying in 2 resorts is a bit like having 2 separate vacations.

My question is whether you want to pack up everything for a move. If you have food in the refrigerator or freezer, you'll have to get bell services to store it for you.

Thanks for all the input.

DH is really of the opinion that we should just let it ride and let the chips fall whever they may. Being the planner that I am, I tend to over analyze everything. I really want to try VWL as well but I keep thinking how much we will love that savannah view and that the kids will love the pool area. Transferring food really isn't that much of a big deal as we will buy for 5 days and then buy for the next 5 seperately (DH is a night owl and will have no problem in making a late night Publix or Walmart run.)

We did a split stay in Dec but it was only 3 nights each at OKW and BCV. That was a little short for me. I did really like getting to check out each resort though so I don't regret it. With 5 nights at each I think I'd do the split to try them both.
We'll have another split stay in May but it's a bit different since it's 6 nights at AKV and then 3 nights at VB - I'm really looking forward to seeing that resort!

We are doing a similar split stay in December. My DS loved WL when he was little -- I'd keep the WL. You might not get a chance to stay there again. From what I understand they make it very easy to resort switch, even with groceries. I am sure that you will have a great time no matter what you decide!

Do you have small children traveling with you?

We often stay at more then one resort, just for fun. The resort staff do make it really easy to transfer.

My concern would be, if you have small children with the June heat. There would be a time of the day when you would not have a room if children needed a nap.

They are 7 and 9 so not exactly small :lmao: We are accustomed to park day marathons with no naps so that doesn't really factor in.

The switch (logistically speaking) itself doesn't really bother us. The question is do we really want to move away from AKV for those 5 days. We may not have a choice. DH and I talked about again tonight and decided to just leave the waitlist alone and just go with whatever happens.
