Hi all,

Just was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on a waitlist coming through for Boardwalk preferred studio 11/22-11/26 2006. I called this morning, a day after 7 months from checkout and BW, BC & WL were all booked.
I took our home resort SSR and waitlised BW.
Any chance of this coming through? I know it is a holiday weekend so chances must be slim to none. Will the chances be any different for the other types of views, Boardwalk or standard?

Thanks for the help!

Hey there Neighbor! We have had our Thxgiving ressies made at BWV since 11 months (1BR Std view), but have been playing around the edges a little at the 7 month mark. Our ressies are from Friday 11/17 thru Monday 11/27. For that first weekend (11/17-11/20) we switched over to an available BCV studio at 7 month mark. But we did not take any chances for those precious days around Thxgiving itself tho.

As for your chances for the 11/22-11/26 times, I'd think you'd have some chance of cancellations. Since you waitlisted at the 7 month mark, your chances are much better than any later. It can't hurt to put in waitlists for BW or Std views, but don't expect them to come thru; you're much more likely to get a Pfd pool/garden view, which will be just lovely anyway. I'd also recommend waitlisting VWL and BCV, just in case, if those are places you'd like to stay. Availability is better if you're willing to upgrade to a 1BR, so if you are going to have the points available, give that a shot.

But Thxgiving at SSR is just lovely, from what I hear. My DW's colleague stayed there on points she rented and had transferred to our acct over last Thxgiving; her extended family liked it so much they each bought their own DVC contracts there! Wherever you end up, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Good luck! I'll be optimistic and say: see you at the Boardwalk this Thxgiving :thumbsup2

IIRC, I think there were waitlists for at least some of the days before the 7 month window even opened. This is a popular time of the year for the smaller resorts - and one of the more difficult to get at the 7 month window. We've had our standard view for 11/24 - 12/2 since the 11 month window opened.

There's always a chance. Based on my experience, I'd say it was possible, but not probable for the PV studio and very unlikely for either a Boardwalk or a standard view studio. Your chances are better if you waitlisted for each day individually, but that is more risky. You could end up having to move back and forth during your stay (not much fun for a long weekend).

Hope you have good luck!

P.S. I think the chances of the BWV waitlist coming through are greater than the chances for BCV or VWL. BWV has more PV studios than the other two.

Hi, We just booked our first DVC trip at SSR for 11/24-12/2/06. We will see you all there!! It is a great time to go to WDW. We went the same time in 2003. It was fantastic. Hope you all have a great time!!

Good luck, lots of crowdes that week.

BWV is our home resort.......we tried in FEB to book a PV studio for the week after Thanksgiving (11/23-11/30). we were able to get the studio for all nights except Friday 11/24. we're currently in a SV 1BR for that Friday and are wait-listed for a PV studio for that one day.....hopefully it comes through and we don't have to change rooms twice during the week.

but we've been on the list for 2+ months now with no luck....still hoping.....

I would say that things should settle this week with everyone moving there reservations around fron their 11 month ressie to their 7 month ressie. If it does not come available soon I would not bank on it coming available. I just got 11/24 and 11/25 for 2br bwv waitlist. still waiting for 11/26. good luck!

I have a question...can you wait list at 2 different resorts at the same time? Thanks for any help!!! princess:

Yes you can. Currently I am listed for BCV, BWV, WLV for the same dates. You don't need to have points to cover the waitlist only when you go to book. Hope this helps.

We knew we wanted to stay at VWL this Thanksgiving, but we only have 100 points there. So we used current year and borrowed from next year to get 200 points. We were able to get our 1 bedroom for the last four nights and a studio for the first three nights with a few points left over. As soon as we were 7 months from checkout of our first night in the studio, we changed it to a one bedroom using points from one of our other contracts. When the VWL points were freed up for that Sat night, we had enough to get the other two studio nights in a one bedroom.

So I guess we were pretty lucky. It just goes back to "buy where you want to stay".
