Waitlist came through in real time yesterday morning

DH called MS to ask a question yesterday morn, and while he was doing so, he signed into our online account to check on waitlist and it hadn't come through.

He was on hold for a little bit, so he did some work at his desk (away from computer screen), and when CM came back, he asked his question, and then did a check on availability while he had her on the phone.

CM said that the waitlist had just come through in the last few minutes! Hubby refreshed his browser and sure enough, it had!

We thought waitlists came through at night, so not sure what happened, but we experienced this yesterday, and just wanted to report it as maybe they are tweaking the waitlist system?

The wait list system is a joke and I wish that Disney would be honest with the members and tell us how it really works. Yes some folks like the PP get lucky but many more members never get their request filled, not because there isn't availability, but because the system or lack of a system.

Thanks for posting this. One of my WL nights (I only WL 2 individual nights) came through this morning, but it was matched yesterday at the end of the business day. I called yesterday to ask a question and was told that one of the WL nights matched, but a person had to manually input the info to book the room. I was also hitting refresh on my browser. I checked first thing this morning and the matched WL night now shows up on my dvcmember.com

My understanding from the MS (if this is true) is that the computer searches for matches and will *match* it to your WL, but a different dept/group of people have to manually put it in (hence all the directions they type in while setting up the waitlist).

Just wondering how MS telling you how the system works will change anything? It would be nice to know at what times of day the batch check is done, but then again having that info would only cause the phone lines to jam up with people like me calling just before the batch is run.

From what I can gather there is a list for each resort, your added to the list on a first come basis, a batch check is done what I believe to be at least twice a day, available rooms are checked against that list starting at the top. It would be nice if the system is checking in real time but I highly doubt it.

I don't see how luck plays any part in it. Not sure exactly why you find the system a joke either?
 

We have always seen our waitlist first thing in the morning, as I think they've been matched the night before.

This time was cool, because hubby called at around 11:00 am, and during that phone call, the info was entered. It was 'real time' for us as in it was happening while hubby was on phone - a true coincidence. I didn't mean real time as in waitlists are matched immediately as they become available.

It was still neat nonetheless - we've had 2 waitlists for this trip come through, so we are happy!
