Waitlist came through but Original reservation not cancelled?

I had a preferred view studio at the Riviera booked but waitlisted a standard view for the same dates
My waitlist has just come through but the original reservation is still showing on my dashboard and they have taken more points
I know I could just cancel the original booking myself but I am worried about doing so as it used borrowed points, which if they drop back into my current use year, I will be unable to use.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I am now worried that I didn’t select ‘replace this reservation’ when I requested the waitlist but I am 99.9% sure I did!!
 
When you setup a waitlist you have the option to select to replace an existent reservation. I think you might have forgotten that.

With that being said, you just cancel the old reservation and then afterwards select to modify the new. During the modification process where you select the contacts to use you select the one holding the borrowed points and de-select the others. If the same contract is used you just leave it be and then when you finalize the booking the borrowed will be used. Thats assuming that you dont have any banked points too, banked and borrowed points are basically the same as they expire by the end of the use year.
 
For the future, take a screenshot of the last page when you waitlist so that you have documentation on what you did.

I do it just in case they don’t do it the way I want! But, you can do as suggested, cancel and then reallocate, assuming it’s not less than 31 days.

I think you’re right - I probably didn’t select the right option!

Yes it’s a January reservation so not within the penalty period
 
Just be very careful modifying. I thought I knew what I was doing and cancelled 6 nights of a standard view 1 bedroom at BLT in the first week of Dec. I got the days back over time, but for a while we were moving about 7 times over a 2 week trip. Many tears were shed over that boo-boo.
