Waitlist - Any chance at under a month?

Decided to take a last minute trip down for my birthday at the end of this month. Was able to get two pre-booked reservations from a site we’ve rented from before for Poly but there’s a day missing between the two (January 28th - happens to be the actual day of my birthday). I put in a waitlist for the 28th for the same room type (Lake view studio) to try and hopefully tie the three reservations together into one week in the same room, but we’re new members and this is my first time trying to waitlist. What are the chances this comes through (given that we’re less than 3 weeks from the date) and when do you typically know by? Debating at what point I just book the Standard view that's available with cash to be safe even if it means having to move rooms twice.

There is always a chance, but waitlists stop at 7 days. I would book SV if it is there, and just stalk the website, several times a day and hope it shows up.

I just changed a room two weeks ago from BLT to RIV for our first night this coming Monday!

Things do pop up!

Keep stalking. Just this week, I cancelled our trip (5 nights at BCV) literally the night before our flight. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Book the standard view for your middle night and have your waitlist replace this new reservation. Since you waitlist requires more points the currently available room there is no penalty to continue looking until your arrival day.

I got my last waitlist exactly 7 days prior to arriving. I seldom get them. Right now I have 3 waitlist with no movement at all. two are coming up on the 30 day mark.

Normally I’d say you’d have little chance, but w/ Omicron surging & airlines canceling flights folks are scrambling to cancel/rearrange vacations. Make your cash reservation as a back up, put your wait list in, but also stalk the DVC site several times a day/night for that missing night since the wait list doesn’t always grab villas that open up.

Thanks all, super helpful feedback! We got a night at Poly the week after Christmas on the day before we checked in just from stalking, so I’ll cross my fingers for some good luck again.

So I would agree with stalking the website and if you happen to call members services have them check as well. I have never gotten a waitlist but have managed to get the days I need almost always by checking often. Last night a night that didn’t show for me earlier in the day online was available when I asked member services. I wouldn’t necessarily call just for that but if you have to call for something else never hurts to have them check. People are definitely canceling due to Omicron.
