Waitlist and then cancelling

Brand-spanking new member here. We are going to be in the Orlando area next month. We are considering putting getting on the waitlist for 1 night, but we are not 100% certain we will need the room.

What happens on the very, very rare chance that our waitlist comes thru? Does it automatically book the room or do you have to confirm it to book it? We're concerned that it would book automatically and if we can't use the room, we lose the points.

If the waitlist comes thru, the room is booked automatically.

And if you cancel the reservation less than 31 days out, the points go into holding. They can only be used to make reservations 60 days or less out from the start of the reservation.
