Waitlist and borrowing points when it matches

I am going to visit the VGC for the first time in June !

However, I need one more night and would need to borrow points from 2011 to match. I did whatever the CM asked me to do as far as authorizing that the points be borrowed, but it still has not matched, even though that night has been open. Have the rules changed about waitlists and borrowing points if a match occurs?

How do you know that that night has been open? The only way you could know that is to call, and if you call, you can book it. If you've seen it available for cash, that is a different inventory of rooms.

Sorry, it was complicated to explain when I was typing it the first time, so I will make it simple here (I hope).

I am renting points from a friend who has more points than me, so I can call DVC for availability, but I don't want to book borrowing my points, so she is trying to help me out by using her points and borrowing if they match. We both thought that if she was on the waitlist and authorized that the points be pulled, it would work. I also saw a sighting here on the disboards that the night I want is available (though inventory changes by the minute). Just wondering how the waitlist using borrowed points is *supposed* to work, and whether hers was just set up incorrectly by the CM.

She is busier than me and hasn't had a chance to call. I think she might be able to call today, so then she can book it outright if it is available.

Clearly, I need more points ! I am about to enter into a resale contract, but it will be months before I have the points.

She can't transfer borrowed points to you for your waitlist. Borrowed points can't be transfered.

So to answer your original question... We had several waitlists for december and January(for single nights) that came through requiring us to borrow from our 2011UY if they came through. When you do a waitlist and you don't have the points in your current UY, then you have to give authorization to borrow if it comes through.

Okay, I might be misunderstanding what you are trying to do. As I said earlier, she can't transfer borrowed points to you, BUT, it looks like you are renting a reservation from her instead, and in that case she CAN book it and rent it to you and have the two reservations linked so they become part of the same reservation. That means you BOTH have to be on the phone at the same time in order to link the two reservations.

There hasn't been any changes to waitlists and borrowing if you've given the authorization. I've even gotten calls twice when I had not given the authorization to borrow but the waitlist had matched and was asked if I wanted to ok the borrowing.

I'm not certain what the post is that you saw that said the night was open but unless you called and found out the studio definitely was available then that post may have been erroneous. Also, if someone else were ahead of you on the waitlist (and you can't find out where you are) then their waitlist would have filled. Could be lots of reasons why it hasn't matched but changes to the procedure shouldn't be one of them.

The only way you can find out availability is by calling DVC Member Services. Anywhere else is not accurate. Especially with the very small inventory at VGC.

My friend could not call at the time and grab the night, so it may be gone by now, but she can call today when she gets a break.

AHA! I thought you had booked the reservation with your points and were trying to get the waitlist with her points! Yes, if she needs to borrow those points, they will only reserve it if they can call her and she okays the borrowing.

Thanks! Yes, I was very unclear in my first post after re-reading it. Well, I was trying to be generic and less specific, because I really just wanted the rules for borrowing and waitlists. Next time I will just get right to the point!
