Waitlist and banking

I currently have a one night waitlist at GVC in Oct. Since I have to bank my points before the trip, if the waitlist come through, will it automatically borrow next years points? Do I have to call MS and have that set up (and if I do, can they just modify the waitlist, or will I lose my "spot" in line?

The wait list will need to be modified to allow borrowing. I would hope that MS can change the borrow flag without needing to redo the entire wait list entry.
