Just waitlisted for Sun-Thur in a block (not night by night) for BCV, AKV or BWV for 12/30/07-1/4/08 for a 2br. How does the new waitlist work -- i.e. we don't want to waitlist by night and be moving around. Do the folks who are willing to do that just keep going ahead of us on the wait list as we only want the full 5 nights? Any input on odds of getting this?

Thanks

You are obviously waitlisted for one of the busiest times at WDW. My friends tried to book a Standard View 2BR at BWV for 12/31/07 the day after it came available (10 months, 29 days) and they were SOLD OUT in only one day. They had to book a Preferred View instead (and Boardwalk Views were gone too!). They were shocked, although I was not. I had called the day before for my SV studio and called day-by-day until the reservation was complete.

I assume that you have a back-up plan to SSR or OKW. If not, I would make sure that you have somewhere to stay :).

Here's how the waitlist works: If someone cancels a vacation which includes all your dates and there is no one else in front of you needing one or more of those dates, Member Services will call you and verify that you want to book the vacation. You can also set up the waitlist to approve automatically if you want. I can't remember if they will cancel your other reservation automatically and apply the points or not.

Unfortunately, if someone wants just 12/30 & 12/31 and they are on the WL ahead of you and someone cancels 12/30-1/4 they will get the first two days. The other 3 days will then be distributed to others on the WL or if no one needs them they will be returned to the general pool. You need two things to happen: you need to be at the top of the WL for your dates and all of those dates need to be available at the same time.

I would say that your odds are okay since you are got on the WL at just about 7-months out and you are flexible. People do change their plans and some double book. I'm sure there will be some movement on the WL :). Good luck!

With the new wait list policy, they will automatically book you and cancel your other reservation. They will also drop any other resorts you had wait listed. That is the only option available.
