Still waiting. Still.

11 sleeps until we leave Australia, 16 until we enter Disneyland.

 DD has a major ear infection :headache: . Please make it clear up so and we can get the OK to fly.:scared1: Come on antibiotics. Started treatment two days ago, checked again with Dr today, and her current thinking is that she will be ok to fly. Time will tell.

Everything otherwise is ready to go. PSs are made, day tours booked, accom ready, money changed. Packing lists made, and checked.

I'm just hoping now that the time goes quick, but not that quick that DD is not allowed to fly.

It is always stressful when someone gets sick right before vacation. I'm always taking extra vitamins before to try to fight off germs. Hopefully the ear infection clears up and everything goes fine!:)

OOhh poor baby! I hope she feels better.

oh wow im so sorry i hope she will get better. hope you all have a balast.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes. It's Tuesday morning here, and I've decided to keep DD off school again today. It's sports day anyway, it's a very sunny day, but quite a cool breeze blowing. If it was a non-sport day I may of considered her going, which is a good sign, I think.

The antibiotics are starting to work it seems, she is in less pain today and hasn't asked for any pain-killer since 10pm last night (10.5 hours ago), she hasn't had any sign of a temperature/fever returning either.

Tomorrow is her 6th birthday. We've got 10 days now until we leave, DH thinks DD will be ok. If she keeps picking up, our next Dr's appt is not Tuesday next week, else I'll need to take her back again before.

Glad it looks good. :woohoo: Those antibiotics usually work pretty fast on things like this.

It's like watching a pot of water and waiting for it to boil. It takes forever.:hourglass Have a great trip when the time finally arrives (and it will. eventually. someday.)

Buy her Gum to chew on take offs and landings it helps lot to relieve the pain.

1. Great for kids!
on 9/6/2008
Pros:Easy To Use, Gentle, Effective, Safe
Best Uses:Travel
Describe Yourself:Light Sleeper

Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Our kids are too young to know how to "pop" their ears when we fly. Previous flights were painful on my daughter's ears and I couldn't see putting her through that again, but when I heard about these I thought I'd give them a try. They worked fabulously! The come in kid and adult sizes and only need to be worn during take off and landing, but are fine to leave in for the entire flight. Each box contains 1 pair that may be used round trip. I used them on a 6 and 2 year old without any problems.

I flew to California and got an ear infection while I was there. I was advised to not fly home with my ear like it was, but a nurse told me about these. I tried them on the flight home as I could not postpone travel and they worked so well! No exploded eardrum!

3. [/COLOR] Great product
on 8/17/2007
Pros:Easy To Use, Safe, Gentle, Effective
Cons:None
Best Uses:Air Pressure Discomfort

Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I use to need to have tubes inserted in my ears to fly $$$$. The key to these being effective is to make sure your sinus passages are clear.

Instructions

Before inserting, pinch nose and blow to clear you ears.
For best results, always insert EarPlanes one hour before landing.
Remove after landing and when the cabin door is opened.
Chronic sufferers may also insert Ear Planes just before takeoff.
EarPlanes may be removed when the airplane reaches maximum altitude and reinserted one hour before landing.

For maximum results, use your opposite hand to pull the top of your ear upward. Insert the ribbed end and turn like a corkscrew until snug.
Do not reuse after two flights since pollen, dust, and moisture will reduce effectiveness.

I have seen these or something similar at our local pharmacy. I think I'll get some. I have sinus and cold as well at present, but I know that some good old pseudoephridine(sp?) and I'll be pretty ok to fly, but to have these would be good as well. I'll definitly get some in a kids size for DD, even if the problem has fully gone.

Oh dear, the poor little one. I am sure she will recover in time and you will have a magical Disney holiday:wizard: I wish I could hitch a ride with you lol. Having returned home to NZ after our most recent trip I feel so far away.:upsidedow

We had something similar happen before our trip in July. Just over a week before we were due to leave for LA our DD picked up the Chicken Pox. Thankfully there was just enough time for it to run its course before our trip but we thought for certain that DH and our 13 month DS would pick it up too. With each day came more panic as they didn't get sick and we reached the point where if they did get sick there wouldn't be enough time for him to get through the contageous stage before our flight.
By some sort of Disney miracle baby did not pick up his sisters chicken pox at all and we were all healthy and strong for our adventures.

Make sure she takes the whole round of antibiotics. If not, the infection may return - and may be worse...

Glad to see she'd feeling better! Hope you enjoy your trip

we had the opposite problem....in 1997, my daughter actually CAUGHT chicken pox at disneyland! :scared1:

KYLIEH - hope your little girl is feeling back to her regular self real soon! have a great trip!

Oh, man, hope everybody gets and stays healthy before your trip! Lots of vitamin c and water!

Ugh, we were actually at the gate and waiting for our delayed flight when DD12 said, "Uh, Mom, I don't feel so good... " and lay down across several seats. That was the start of the nightmare trip. Every day she woke up feeling a little worse, and then would perk up enough to get to the parks, and then crash earlier. When we got back 5 days later, she had to have IV fluids and antibiotics to get rehydrated, and she just missed being hospitalized. Just a bug, they said, but man! What a strain on our trip! Oh well, we will be there for our "do over" in less than a month!
