Waiting Until Last Minute to Book A TownCar For New Year's Day??

We plan on arriving at MCO some time before noon on New Year's day. I'm guessing that this is a slow time of year for WDW in general and that NY day itself will be slow. People will be returning from holiday on Sun., 1/2/2005. I'd like to take a shot at getting a steal on a rental car on Priceline, but if that fails I'll need a TownCar for the round trip. I don't want to make a ressie that I really don't want to use only to cancel it if my Priceline idea works. What's the risk of waiting until Dec. 28 or so before calling Tiffany or some other company to book a RT from MCO to wherever we're staying? Is there any real chance that all their cars will be booked for the 11 am - noon slot on New Year's Day?

Thanks,

Hey, Bill, you from another planet?

New Years Day will be Sat and the parks should be packed until at least Monday. There will be all sorts of people coming and going all weekend long.

Deb & Bill,

I figured the parks will still be busy on Sat. but that Sun. will be the getaway day for folks who have to resume life on Mon. Jan. 1 begins the 'value' season for WDW so I would expect low attendance as the week progresses. I'm just unsure how many peolpe will actually travel on the biggest hangover day of the year, a Sat. to boot. There's always the chance I'm wrong, which is why I asked about the advisability of waiting to reserve a car.

I've flown before on January 1st, expecting empty plane and airports, boy was I wrong!!! The airports were just as crowded as any normal day, as were the flights. Personally, I'd reserve the towncar now, and search for a cheap rental. If you can get one, then cancel the towncar pickup, if not, at least you're all set and won't have to worry. Even though you'll be coming in, as you state, a lot of people will be going home that weekend, even on Saturday. So, pick-ups at the airport might be a minimum, but drop-offs might be HIGH, leading to the car companies being booked up anyway.

FWIW, I also believe the planes will be full or nearly so on New Year's Day. Many airlines offer lower prices to get people to actually travel on the Holiday itself, rather than the end of the weekend. JMHO. YMMV.

Best wishes -

I'd think someone will have a towncar available. Mears offers towncars but they're a little more expensive than the other companies.

Worse case you can grab a cab. If you don't need a grocery stop the price is about the same.
