I have wanted DVC for years, but my ex wasn't interested. He did not understand my love of Disney, he always called the parks "birth control." Now surprised and single again, had an offer on a contract accepted a few weeks ago. A present to me, from me. I am so excited thinking about all my future visits. Love Wilderness Lodge and it's proximity to the Magic Kingdom and the campgrounds. Don't plan to visit til next spring, but I am afraid I won't be able to wait that long. I've been reading these boards for a long time, never joined or posted til now.
The more I read, the better I feel about the decision I've made, to buy a resale contract, just hard thinking I will have to wait a year to use it..

:welcome: to the Disboards and the DVC boards. What a great present to yourself! Good luck with the rest of the buying process. :goodvibes Maybe once you're in the system, you could plan a quick weekend getaway to tide you over until spring!

Congrats! My guess is you won't have to wait a year. As soon as you have access to the online reservation system you will most likely check availability and book the first available trip! :)

Welcome to the boards, and the wait won't be long. Wilderness Lodge is wonderful.

Aww, I wish I could do that. I am a planner. I am budgeting to pay cash for this contract, I won't feel comfortable paying for airfare and all the trimmings until after the new year. I want my daughter to be able to enjoy the pool and the campgrounds, that is why I want to wait until spring.

party: Congratulations ... and :welcome:

You sound like you have a great head on your shoulders... we are much the same way and are uber-planners. Believe me, before you know it, you will be booking air flights and then quick as can be, you'll be on your way.

I will say, I help pass the time between trips by hanging out here on the boards and also getting the latest Unofficial Guide and reading reading reading... :thumbsup2

Look at it this way, by not being rushed into booking for an upcoming trip you will close before the 7 month window opens at VWL and you can book your first trip in the priority booking window and get what you want not what's available. Congratulations!

It sounds like a great step forward for you and your daughter - congratulations on your DVC contract!

That is exactly why I am buying now. Just have to keep reminding myself... I am completely happy with the Wilderness Lodge and like the idea of taking my daughter to the same resort once a year while she is young, a new family tradition with familiarity. When she is old enough, I will see if she wants to try others.

Good luck to you with the rest of the process. I'm there with you having just received seller acceptance for my first DVC purchase at VWL. Wilderness Lodge was the resort we stayed at on my family's first trip to WDW. It continues to hold a special place for me, my DW, and DD. I remember how excited we were when the boat entered Seven Seas Lagoon and we saw the train station, Space Mountain, and the top of Cinderella's castle. That's when the Disney magic hit us and we've been hooked ever since.

I am also thinking about pulling the trigger on VWL contract! In fact, I am rumaging around on the boards for a "sign" to tell me to pull the trigger!! :rotfl2: We all know I'm going to do it!! LOL

We were just there in April, and actually stopped by the lodge on accident (took the wrong bus!! HA) and fell in love just within the 15 minute walk around. Not to mention how much we LOVED :lovestruc taking the boat to MK!!
