Waiting in line for a ride

How long is the longest you'll wait in line to ride a certain ride? I think it's gotta be about 40 minutes for me. Anything more then that is crazy. I waited for 90 minutes, for the Finding Nemo ride and Indiana Jones, but that's because my kids really wanted to wait.

Unless it is TSMM, which has no FP, I won't wait more than about 20 min. With FPs, we don't have to. We ride the non FP rides first thing in the morning and start collecting FPs every time we are allowed. We are then able to get on all the big rides without much wait. I would never wait in a long stand by line. We used this strategy at a crowded time this summer and never waited longer than 20 min.

TSMM is another matter. On less crowded summer days it was about 25-30 min. But on the crowded days it was about 50 min at its shortest.

Yeah 30 mins tops. We tend to go first thing when it opens and go to our top 3 rides. Normally Indian Jones, Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion. Then we will look to see what other rides don't have long waites and go on those.

Same with CA, Soarin Roller Coaster are our main rides there.

Normally if you have more than one day a good time is to go when fireworks are on since most are watching those.

Soarin at WDW last may had wait times of around 80 to 90 mins during the day.

Just depends on how many days you have there, hit the rides you want to do first thing and get the FP's whenever you can.

We uses the peak time of the day, say 12pm to 4pm to just look around and enjoy the park, grab a bite, maybe head to Downtown then head back in the evening to do the rides again.

Another tip is to go in the single riders line when you can. Once you have done the ride together, one of you (assuming there is more than one of you there) can normally get on the single riders line which moves pretty quickly.

They just split you up to fill the odd seats on rides. Good way to go on a second or third time with minimal wait.

I have waited and will wait up to 60 minutes for certain rides if I have to (Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, etc.), but most rides 30-40 minutes max.

I have waited in lines over an hour over the years at Disneyland. It really doesn't matter how long we wait if we have good conversation in line.

I waited 1.5 hours for Finding Nemo when it first opened two years ago (and that was considered short since we went when the park was about to close )

Now, I won't wait more than an hour for a ride. I'd rather wake up earlier and take advantage of the shorter lines during park opening or stay until park closing when the lines are also shorter. I find that being able to save FPs for later in the day is so useful

The longest was for Nemo and that was like 90+ mins. Never again though =) now me and DGF will only wait 40 mins and thats only for Space Mountain.

As a kid we waited some horrible amount of time for Space.

As an adult, we have waited 40 minutes for TSMM, and although it was worth it, and although DS was so excited for it he was pleasant and patient and fine in the line....I probably couldn't do more than 60 minutes for TSMM.

And I'm not sure that any ride, for me, is worth getting in a line that states it will be longer than 40 minutes...there are too many options to do that sort of waiting for one ride.

Longest line Ive EVER waited in was at Six Flags MM, from the time we got in the line to the time we boarded X2....almost exactly 2 hours.

I've waited for 2 hours for X (before it became X2). But it was well worth it.

At DL, I waited like 60-75 min for Rocket Rods, 60 min when the new Space opened, and 60 min for Nemo during its opening summer. Other than that, I've waited in a fair amount of 45 min lines. I don't mind waiting as long as there isn't anything else that I feel like I am missing by waiting in a long line.

I refuse to wait in any line more than 15-20 minutes. If you get there early, collect FPs, and follow Hydroguy's tips, there is no reason you ever have to. I will never understand people who go to DL mostly for the rides, but refuse to get up early and collect FPs. 60 minutes' wait for a 3 minute ride? No way!

The longest I have ever waited has been 60 for nemo and 45 for Indy. I hate doing it, but some times it is worth it.

My best friend and I once waited 3 hours for a ride at Cedar Point. We were much, much younger and yes, it was worth it. I think it was called the Rapture or something like that. It was a good ride.

I would never, ever even consider waiting that long for a ride now. The most I'll do now is 20 minutes. I always go to Disneyland at off season. The lines aren't too bad nor is the weather. A certain place down below would freeze over before I'd go in the summer time and face the heat and the long lines. I could sooner do the lines than the 90+ degree heat. Ugh!

Longest is 30 minutes. Back in the day (dark ages before fast pass) the 1-3 hour waits for the popular rides (and they were common time amounts) were what kept me from visiting Disneyland for 20 years. I just couldn't justify paying the cash for 2-3 rides and to stand around with the crowds.

If Disneyland ever removed the fastpass option(even if they replaced with a higher cost ticket to jump to the front ) I don't think I would justify the cost to get there again. (we live in Colorado) I just wouldn't go. Fast pass is what keeps us coming back.

TSMM seems to be the one ride at DLR you can't fit in without a longish wait. The single rider line is an option. We have done TSMM at DCA twice in late afternoon. Once in May the standby was 40 minutes and we did SR with a group of 8 that took 20 minutes to get us all on. In August we did standby when the wait was posted as 30 minutes and it did in fact take 30 minutes. We did standby because most of the group I was with had never gone before and I wanted us to be together. Otherwise I would have done SR and it would have taken 15 minutes most likely.

I guess 30 minutes is my answer to the OP question. Back in the day I remember waiting 90 minutes for Space Mtn. We have waited 30 minutes for ToT on recent trips because even with FP ToT takes 15 minutes. So it was not worth taking the time to get a FP just to save the 15 minutes.

California Screamin has turned into this kind of situation too. It has been several years since I have seen a line at Screamin over 30 minutes. And with FP it still takes at least 10 minutes. So it is usually not worth taking time to get the FP unless you want to ride TSM and are already back there.

Going OT, but I had to chip in: the longest I ever waited for X2 was 0 hours, 0 minutes, and 0 seconds. For those who don't want to wait in line, I have three words: West Coast Bash.

None of the rides at DLR are worth long waits IMHO. If there was a unique coaster or something one-of-a-kind to So. CA., then maybe a ride would be worth an hour's wait. (reminds me of how deceptively long the Peter Pan wait can be)

Ten years ago, I waited 90 minutes for IJ. I won't ride it now without FastPass. I think I waited about that long for Rocket Rods back then too. Now I collect FP effeciently and rarely wait in a long line for anything. I will also arrive at the park early and ride Peter Pan first thing (walk on) before the line line builds.

The longest we have waited is about an hour and we wont do that anymore. I do remember when Indy first opened the lines were like 2-3 hours long - they were wrapped around the park down by Jungle cruise out through frontier land and then over by big thunder it was the craziest line I have ever seen for a ride.
