Waiting for lower rates

I'm beginning to look for our accommodation for early December. At the moment there is an AAA rate for RPR that is $20 less than the AP rate. We have AP's, but would have to join the UK AA, but it would be worth it for 6 or 7 nights!!
Do the AAA rates stay the same or is it worth waiting and checking regularly?
Thanks

Hi there. Historically, the beginning of December has had some great AP specials. It's no guarantee that there will be some this year, but I would wait, and not join AAA just for a better rate. Just keep your APH rate for now, and as it gets closer (fall sometime), change your rate if they release any specials. I don't quite remember what the specials were last year, but I remember that they were so good, I was trying to find a way for us to go!

I have an AAA rate now for September, but last September UO had a stay three nights, get one free special for AP holders. Hoping to switch over if that happens.

Thanks Jodie for the help. Will hang on a little then.

Wadup 56, AP is Annual Pass, so APH is annual pass holder, the term used for discount on the Loews website. UO is Universal Orlando!!!

Took me ages to learn them all, and there are loads of others too!

We are only staying for 2 nights in October and I had thought about upgrading one ticket to an APH. However the rate for then on AA is much lower than APH. I intend to take out a £36 membership with AA prior to going and the discount on the 2 nights is much more than £36. Our car manufacturers warranty and AA assistance runs out in Sept/Oct so I would we looking for breakdown cover anyway. Makes more sense for me to buy AA than Spend twice that upgrading my ticket. Might be worth looking into the lowest membership if the rate is still $20 lower nearer the time.

Also, with the AAA rate, you can get perks if you join Loews First, whereas with the APH rate you don't!?

You are correct: AAA is the only discounted rate that qualifies for Loews First perks; APH rate does not. I want to say that RPR std rooms were only $129/night with APH last early December. Fingers crossed that they will be similar for you this December.

AlexandNessa,

Would mind telling me the AAA rate you are being quoted right now? I am considering APH, but was wondering if I could get an idea of how much lower AAA is and try to figure out if one or the other is more worth it when you take into consideration the other discounts you get with APH.

Thanks! :surfweb:

Not Nessa, but you can go to www.universalorlando.com & put in your hotel, dates, & AAA for the code. That will give you the AAA rates for your stay. You can compare the 2 rates, by doing the same thing using the APH code. :)

I think if you can book the AAA rate, you should do it now. You can always cancel and rebook if a better rate comes along.

I have 2 AAA-rate rooms reserved for Nov 9-12 (standard room, 2 queens). When I put my dates in now on both the Universal site and the Loews site (where I originally booked my reservation), both are not even showing any availability at all for our room category. Could they possibly be sold out this far in advance? :confused3
