We were on the November 13th Magic Eastern Cruise and we had wonderful waiters. We have cruised before and requested our assistant waiter Constantin (from Romania). He did an incredible job for us again and were wondering who at Disney Cruise Line we could contact to let them know. We would like to see him promoted if possible. Thanks.

Good for you to have the ambition and presence to recognize your server to his superiors and mention him on this forum. These young men and women who serve us on the DCL do an outstanding job and should be recognized for it!

I suggest that you write DCL and let them know, and cite specifics in why you think he did an outstanding job for you and your family.

Thank you for your posting!!!

Constantin is a nice guy, I agree. He told me that he's getting married in February and is leaving after his next contract expires.

My servers were outstanding also. I forgot to hand in the comment card at the end so I e-mailed DCL with our "Wonder"ful vacation and about our servers and room steward. They promptly e-mailed me back and said that a copy of my e-mail would be put in their permanent file. This satisfied me that they were getting the recognition that they deserved.

We were on the 11/13 cruise as well, and wrote a letter while onboard to Alain, who is the manager of the restaurants. Try to copy him on the letter you write to DCL, as this is the best way to make sure your servers boss will receive the letter.

By the way, Constantin was very helpful to me during a lunch with a seafood buffett. I am extremely allergic to seafood, and he went out of his way to get food for me from Lumerie's, so I wouldn't have a problem finding food in Parrot Cay.:)

We also had excellent service so I inquired and here is the address you can send comments or a letter of appreciation.

Is it unususal to get a request for a previous server granted? We also had an excellent server on our prior cruise and have requested him for our nest in April. We really hope they can accomodate us.

The cruise industry is an interesting business. We spoke at length to our waiter on HAL's Amsterdam about his career. He has been doing this for 5 years.....9 months on, 3 months off every year. He was married and had kids back in Indonesia.
He said even with tips he income would have him eligible for welfare in the US....but by Indonesian standards, he was rich. He planned to work another 2 years....and RETIRE. Yep, he worked 7 years, and was going to retire at age 30.
So he said working 7 days a week, 16 hours a day for 9 months straight for 7 years was no big deal, since he would never have to work again. And he said that is what motivated him to provide the best service for his passengers.......and that he was temporarily away from his family for long periods of time, soon he would be with them all the time.

We had Constantin in JUne and loved him! Sorry to hear he will be gon when we cruise again. Did he say if he was going back to Romania?

He is getting married in the middle of February 2005 and his fiance is in the hotel business. He said they will probably stay in Romania because of his family. He mentioned that his mother had a heart problem.

His mom had had a stroke around the time of our cruise and I know he was very concerned about her. He was such a wonderful person. Very genuine--not just acting nice to get a tip. who was your server and head waiter?

Melwin was our server. We had cruised in May and had Subhash and Constantin. Subhash was apparently on vacation. Melwin took great care of us.

You can ask for your favorite server during Dining Room Changes on the ship during Embarkation. The Head Servers will do their very best to accomodate you and after nearly a dozen cruises, I can honestly say that we have had our favorite servers each time we have asked!!!!

Something about having them makes the entire cruise perfect for us since they know us and we know them - it's like an extended family!!
