Wait, weren't you just at Disney World? An August '14 Pre-Trip Report *updated 8/24*

Museums are so cool. Although I cringed at reading the price. Holy goodness that seems expensive. Then again, maybe I'm just used to things being super cheap. Besides, it seems like it was worth it with how cool it all was.

Well, the $44 was just to park ... I think with all the fees to the tickets for the museum for the 4 of us came to $97 - definitely worth it though and plus I just want the kids to see museums as a positive thing to go to and something they can/will enjoy

I'm seriously craving those chicken tenders now though. I want them and that mac and cheese. And the fries. I'd want your drink too but then you mentioned coffee flavored and I'm out ;)

yeah, it was all very good. Actually the least good thing was probably the fries. They weren't bad - just nothing super fantastical. I didn't really notice a strong coffee flavor - though I love coffee so you might have noticed it more than I did.

So close for FP+! Got any you're willing to get up extra early for to snatch?

three words: "Anna and Elsa" ... and since I will be up for that might as well book the rest. Plus since we have limited time at DHS the first day and then trying to fit things in to the mornings other days want to be sure I have the most options for times

That museum is among the top places I want to visit if I ever make it to NYC. Ugh, that parking though. I'll just have to get a hotel close enough or something lol. but I imagine parking will be about that price per day at a hotel anyway:rolleyes: How far are you from NYC?

Aw, Olivia looks so happy with the butterfly.

That mac and cheese looks so gooey and tasty. But that stay-cation drink looks out of this world delicious! :hyper:

yeah, parking is pretty crazy almost everywhere in NYC - I try to find places that have coupons but nothing was working anywhere close to the museum. You are right that most hotels do charge like $40 a day for parking so really hard to save. Guess that's what happens when there are like millions of cars trying to park on an island.

We live pretty close to the city - it takes us a bit less than an hour get onto Manhattan and then depends on where we are going in the city. Took about 1:15 or so to get to the museum

The Mac & Cheese was really good - nothing crazy or super unique, just a really good straight forward mac & cheese. The drink was pretty phenomenal!

Pre Trip Report: Part 16 - Olivia's Ballet Recital

Ok time for another pre-trip report update that has nothing to do with said trip ... though the end will be at least DIS related.

This past weekend Olivia had her ballet recital and she was so excited for it and took her preparation very seriously. I, however, was just about the worst stage dad ever in that I forgot to bring the camera :sad2: and then I forgot my phone in the care :guilty: ... so we got what we could using Judi's phone but a lot of the pictures are pretty terrible - especially the ones when she was on stage.

Trust me when I said she did great and she got a huge round of applause. Olivia was also very excited because Judi's parents came in for the weekend to attend and also my mom and sister came up as well - so she was pretty much on could 9 :cloud9:

This first picture is of the young girls that were in the show - Olivia and one other girl did ballet and were butterflies (they are in the green). The girls in the pink were one year older than Olivia and they did a different ballet routine but also a jazz/hip-hop one. We are thinking of having Olivia do that style next year as well as she just seems to love dance so much

Next is just a close-up picture of Olivia in her costume:

This is a picture of all of the girls in the show:

This is the best picture I got of Olivia actually performing - but I think you can tell that she is taking it very seriously and trying to do the pose perfectly:

Afterward she was excited to get flowers from us as well as from my mom:

We all went out for dinner after as well and it was just a good time catching up with everyone and spending some time together.

Oh, and so the DIS related news, we are going out to Hershey this weekend to attend the GKTW DISmeet event. I am super excited just to meet a bunch of other DISers and also to meet the podcast crew - they are (amost all) coming up and doing a live broadcast during the meet :hyper:

Oh, and I volunteers to put together the craft beer basket for the auction and this is what I came up with:

It's got 14 different beers, a couple of pint glasses, a growler, and some other goodies ... hopefully people are into it and it helps raise some money!

I plan to do a bit of a mini-trip report for this weekend - it's also our anniversary on Saturday and Judi's parents are taking the kids that night so we can have a date night!:woohoo:

TTFN

Olivia looks beautiful, sounds like it was a great day for her!

Have fun at Hershey/GKTW Dismeet! And also, Happy Anniversary!! Can't wait to hear the mini TR :)

Olivia looks darling in her costume! :cloud9:

That's an AWESOME basket! I would so bet on that one. We just had an auction/raffle at our church this past weekend and for it, I made a Starbucks basket. I would have really liked to have done a beer or wine basket but since it's church related, probably not the best idea :lmao:

Hopefully the event raises a lot of money!

Awww, Olivia looks adorable in her ballet costume!
Have fun at the Hershey Dismeet-- I'd LOVE that basket and I'm sure it'll fetch a high amount at the auction! Any chance you shopped at DeCicco's for any of the beers? My FAVORITE place to buy beer, especially because of their individual bottle selection!
Just wanted to note that my boyfriend did give me Aladdin tickets for my birthday; we're seeing the mantinee on July 26 and I can't wait after your great review!

Olivia looks beautiful and very excited about her recital. I love watching the little ones perform. And how sweet she got flowers.

I'm glad you had a good visit with the family.

The DISmeet for GKTW sounds like fun and I love the basket. If my hubby were there he would bid on it.

And I hope you have a wonderful anniversary date with your wife. :goodvibes

after seeng your post on my trip report I saw you had one in progress so I deceiced to check it out. I am a little late for the party but better late than not at all. All I can say is WOW! I can really learn al ot from this thread! You have done a Great Job! Looking forward to reading more!

Olivia makes the cutest butterfly!!!! What fun!!

Have a great time at Hershey! I haven't been there since I was a kid, but I still remember getting a tshirt and loving it. Weird what sticks with you!

I'm sure that basket will be very popular! :goodvibes

I think a great mini trip report is coming - only half over but already has great beer, a DISmeet and more butterflies!

I think the basket was a hit (i think it had the most tickets bidding on it and Shawn from the Podcast crew was trying to figure out how to pack it in his luggage back to FL.

I think the event went really well. I was ahead of Pete Werner in line for food (oh, excuse me, did I just drop a name?) And he was saying that for a first time event it was run really, really well - he seemed impressed!

So I go to the DeCicco's in Armonk all the time - so much so that I know one of the bartenders well and mentioned this event and asked if he had any extra glasses or other swag from past beer events I could add to the basket. Well, he stopped me and let me know they would be happy to put the entire basket together for me -score! It went over so well and I can't say enough about how great they are - and the fact they are a family business makes it even better!

That's awesome you got tickets for Alladin! - he sounds like a keeper ;)

She is so excited about dance! I am cognizant not to be too pushed with activities but she seems to really like dance and I think we will do a 2nd class for her this coming year.

The DISmeet was so much fun - will have a few posts coming up covering it.

And following the event I dropped Judi off at the spa and I am currently at a brewery so pretty much the best anniversary ever! ;)

Thanks so much for joining the party! Wow, if you can learn something from this thread that is awesome because I have learned so much from others - so great to pay it forward.

Plenty more to come -and some might even be related to the trip!

Thank you - it was definitely a fun day ... even sans camera.

That is funny you remember getting a t-shirt. I totally remember getting a figment plush when I was a kid and nothing about the ride

It looked to be one of, if not the, most popular basket, so I was pleased with that!

Olivia is so cute! And clearly, from the pictures, we can tell she's talented ;) I mean, it's obvious. You can't be that cute and not be super talented at dancing.

And the flowers are so sweet. I bet she felt awesome.

I would love to read a mini-TR about the DISmeet. I need to get to one. I know there is one coming up in Nova Scotia but with flights and hotel to pay for the weekend we don't have the money (even standby it's like $150/pp? I can fly to the US standby cheaper.). But next year, I'm making it a goal to have the money set aside for a DISmeet ;)

Also, congrats on the anniversary! (And Father's Day!)

Congrats to Olivia on a successful performance! Glad she is enjoying dance.

Can't wait to hear about your DIS-meet weekend. Sounds like it's been really fun. And happy anniversary!

Happy Father's Day Phil! and Happy belated Anniversary! What a great weekend.

I saw some of your GTKTW on FB so that was cool!

Olivia looks like a happy little ballerina! I'm sure she was thrilled with the flowers. :)

Loved seeing the Dance Recital - super cute!! Hope Hershey was awesome and you had a wonderful anniversary and father's day!
