just was ordering online off the disney catalog...have great winter sales...

seen an adorable wicker princess headboard (full size) which DD has,,,,marked down to $49.99 from I believe over $200

was so happy to find this...am a best guest which allows me free shipping...
although the item did say that it would entail extra shipping (presumably because the headboard is heavy)

so okay, I order several thermal pj's which total about $100 and this headboard...welll...............low and behold...shipping is $163.64......
can't believe this so call the 800 number and yes...........the headboard alone is $135 to ship................

why would anyone pay $49 & then pay $135 to ship it...
total,total rip off

I ship ups all the time at work...and at worst case.....if the headboard weighed 100 lbs.....you would get 100 lb. wt discount and sending ground would only cost at best $50........

so I ask....whom is getting this additional money??????

as you can well guess, I cancelled headboard.....and total shipping was less than $10...

go figure

anyone got an explanation for this one...

I used to work in shipping and I think it isn't the weight, but the size. It would be considered oversize and would have to be shipped by truck (freight). I don't believe UPS or others like it could do it because of the size. I could be wrong because I worked in shipping over 10 years ago. But we had to ship bases ( the big violin) that way.

I have had that happen a few times with toys'r'us.com they offer items and then charge more for shipping than the item actually costs. Do people really pay this? I just don't get it.

Well that's probably why it's on sale.. not many people are going to pay for it plus the $135 shipping.

drumflower is right. We had a 50s vintage Kay bass shipped from Florida to Tennessee several years ago and the standard shipping services wouldn't touch it. It was well over $100 even then to ship it with a trucking company and it isn't really ALL that heavy.

Our only other option would have been to tie it to the top of the van like musicians did back in the 40s and 50s. Believe me, it was well worth the bucks to have it taken care of.

We ordered the black MM headboard a year or so ago. It comes via a truck, not UPS/Airborne/what-have-you. I think we only had to pay $80 for shipping tho.
