Wait Times / Park Closing

Help me understand something.
I checked the Disney App at 6pm last night and it said that there was a 210 minute wait for Avatar.
This means that if the wait time was correct you would have got on the ride at 9.30pm, even though Animal Kingdom closed at 8pm.
So does this mean that as long as they let you stand in line they will let you on even if the park is officially closed?

That is correct. But know that the wait times are often purposely inflated at park closing to discourage people from getting in line

Even when they’re not inflating wait times, they mark them basically based on how long the standby line is. But once the park closes, so does the FastPass line, so the standby line starts to move several times faster than when the park is open.
