Wait times on MDE vs actual

Anyone at MK or Epcot this weekend? Wondering if the wait times I’m seeing on MDE are consistent with what people are actually having to wait.

In general it’s hit or miss
I know in Epcot yesterday lots of rides had significant downtime
-frozen was closed all day to the point there was a push notification
-we were in a 20 min stand still VQ line on GoTG while lightning lane was backed up to the entrance eventually baled as we needed to get to eat to the beat and couldn’t wait the personally guesstimated 90-120 it probably would have been remaining
-it took us over an hour to ride spaceship earth as there were multiple 15-20 min ride stops

Oh my! I’m so sorry. Is a day like this a rarity or more the norm these days?

This topic always gets a lot of discussion. The way in which those things are calculated makes a difference. If Disney uses your MB to sample how long someone was in line before getting to the ride entrance (say 45 minutes), then that information is already 45 minutes old. Lines can get shorter/longer all during the day for any number of reasons. This is never going to be an exact science regardless of what some may say. I doubt it is worth walking all the way across the park to some ride Disney says has a short line. By the time you arrive things might have changed, a lot of others shown up or the ride might be down for a mechanical issue.

Generally speaking, the most popular rides will have the longest wait times and crowds tend to peak mid-day. Some 3rd party sites that project wait times hours into the future may as well be picking numbers out of a hat.

In June, MDE and entrance wait times were hit or miss. Probably within 20% of my actuals half the time, and the other half all over the map. Sometimes much longer, sometimes much shorter.

These days, I trust that they are not accurate.

Often at night posted waits are shorter than MDE. Late morning through mid-afternoon was when waits trended a bit longer than posted, but that is more a general trend, not a comment on any specific ride.

Weather - like downpours/storms can throw that off.

There is rarely any wait for Philamagic, except waiting for the prior show to end.
