Are the wait times at the park accurate? I have read several threads where the people said the wait was overestimated???

From my experience, they usually are overestimated for rides like Big Thunder, Pirates, and Haunted Mansion. The times for Peter Pan, and more slow-loading rides are usually right.

Right before park closing it seems that they spike the wait times, and extend the line. (Closing inside parts of the que to make the line look longer)

Anyone else notice this phenomenon?

I know when I worked at WDW they would bump the line times up by 5-10 minutes so guests expectations were exceeded when they go through faster. I don't know if they still do that but I like to pretend they do so it doesn't seem quite as long. :)

I think they probably do because whenever we take a chance on a 20 minute wait, it usually only ends up being 10, 15 at most. It seems like they add on 5-10 minutes and I like that. I would rather it be that way then tell me it's gonna be 30 so I get in line to make it before my lunch PS and it ends up being 45-an hour!! It's reverse psychology Disney Magic at it's best!:lmao:

I noticed that too about the kiddy rides in fantasyland, or other rides such as soarin, the haunted mansion, pirates splash, space mountain etc.

The boats or the carts are constantly moving and can seat several people at once. Its like every 30 seconds a boat or a cart goes out, so the lines do move quite fast.

But I did notice on those rides though espcially on the pirates & space mountain that the wait time said 30 minutes but you were in a boat within about 10-15 minutes. I timed it several times, including being there on a saturday.

Wait times are often high, but isn't that what you would prefer? Given that they can't be exact?

In particular "10" or even "15" often means a walk-on, though in the case of Indiana Jones it can take several minutes just to "walk on"!

One case where wait times can be low is on headliner attractions such as Soarin' on busy days. If you get in the standby line about an hour after opening, it will be slammed by a lot of FP people returning, and as a result the standby wait may turn out to be even more than advertised.

Yeah I've had a few incidences where this has occurred. The Splash mountain sign read the line was 20 minutes but the line was just about backed up all the way to the sign, that's longer than 20 minutes.

And a few times on Soarin when I've had fast passes, the fast pass line was was quite long and we were cutting off some very angry standby people and I'm sure their line was a lot longer than advertised.
