Seriously, people have reported being on the phone for HOURS waiting and then have the call to drop and they start all over again. I was only partly kidding on that first sentence. If your friend wants to call now, then let them call and see for themselves.
If your trip isn't until fall, shouldn't you still have the option to make changes online? I think as long as you're more than 30 days out, you should still have the "change/cancel" button on your "my plans" page.
I will have to call soon , I think. It’s my understanding that if you have done online check in you have to call to cancel ... it won’t be automatic. We’re scheduled to arrive April 4th and I’m guessing they will not be open at that point. Not sure we would enjoy the trip anyway ... as much as I hate to admit it I’m in that age group they say is pretty vulnerable.
Don't call now, there are people waiting hours on hold to make changes and cancellations to trip that are supposed to happen in the next few weeks - those people need to be able to get a hold of Disney. Try to make any changes that you can online or wait a few weeks until things calm down to call.
FWIW...I got through in a matter of mins. yesterday to have our May trip canceled and move the money to our Nov. trip. The call took all of 10 mins. to complete.
