if you thought the wait times were long... JUST WAIT ...2022 cruises open next week . With so many members having tons of unused points and you have to call MS to book its going to be Baaaaad. Plan for days to get through. The phone system can only handle maybe 500 on hold at one time. So even if you aren't calling for a cruise , you still need to get into the queue to wait to speak to a CM.

Ok, so I am trying to call in right now and the phone goes right to either a super busy signal or a "your call did not go through". I'm going nuts here. I think I've called about 24 times with no success. And it's not even next week, so.... (!!!!)

Oh wow, I just got in... on try #25. I never felt so relieved to hear the DVC guy's voice asking me to choose my options... Wait times are only 35 minutes, so don't know why it's so hard to get through...

Caution about using points to cruise. DVC has not been as generous as DCL as cruises are cancelled. You may not want to rent points to pay for a cruise, but I honestly think it is safer to do so.

Only had to wait 55 minutes, yeah.
Ugghhh, at least they over estimated. That’s awful. Disney needs to bring people back to work, things are picking up. If they increase capacity from 35% to 50%. 50% is around the average daily theme park guests in 2019, pre pandemic. DHS rated for 60,000 people. 50% is 30,000, 2019 #’s is 32,444. MK rated 110,000, 50% is 55,000 2019 avg is 57,432. I do realize certain times are busier than others. But certain days at certain parks now are maxed out.

I didn't realize so many use their points for a cruise. I have always seen it as a horrible use of points. You can sell your points and get more money for your points then what the cruise actually costs. Am I missing something here?

I think some people don’t want the hassle of renting and it’s easy to call MS (if you can get pass the long waits) and just book

This is me. While yes, it costs me more, the entire purpose is to have points with flexibility. So, I have used them a few times. It’s been years since we did the Disney cruise but wouldn’t hesitate to do it again, value or not.

I'm on hold right now with an estimate wait time of 60 minutes. Took 5 calls before I even got through.

Definitely pathetic customer service.
Where did you hear the estimated wait time?
Between not traveling due to Covid-19, and most things we need to do related to DVC being available online, I have not called MS for a while. Yesterday, I called MS for the first time in 2021, and did not receive an estimated wait time. After 90 minutes, and still no indication on how much longer it would be, I hung up.
Could not agree more about it being "Definitely pathetic customer service". This is not the DVC we bought into 22 years ago.

I was on hold for 3 hours on Wednesday. They finally picked up and I booked. Unfortanetly, my reservation "cannot be found" on the app. So now I'be been waiting another hour on the phone so far.
How do you know the wait times? I have never heard.

Edit: sat on the phone for 90 minutes... only to get cut off half way through our conversation

It depends on the cruise, for one cruise the number of points we would need to rent out to pay cash (at a generous $15 per point at the time, now we could get more possibly) was about double what we needed to book using points. So always check.
