Wait time at 7 am for fop during emh...

If I exactly arrived at 7 am at ak for fop what would the arrive wait time be. The day I am looking at would be a Wednesday morning in early September. TIA.

For THIS Sept, no one really knows yet. AK has EMH at 7:00 every morning and we don't know if they will still be opening early before actual time. I would watch the reports for the early part of Sept and plan accordingly. If there aren't many reports, I'd plan to be at the gates no later than 6:30. Arriving at 7:00 a.m. right now (without the every day EMH), you would already be looking at about an hour wait.

Regardless of when you go, if you aren't there before opening (anywhere from 30min to 1hr prior) you're going to be in a long line. Getting there right at opening time is probably the worst choice you could make.

If you don't want to be there at 6a to try and jockey for a decent spot in line, consider trying to do it at the end of the evening if your schedule allows. We were there in September and right before Rivers of Light the wait time dropped to 30 minutes for FoP and 15 minutes for Navi River. Pandora is also beautiful at night.

The one benefit to opening time for EMH vs. Regular opening time is that during EMH there are no FP's & no one cutting in line in front of you like at regular opening. Depending on where the OP actually is at 7 will make a big difference as the wait time builds every minute of the first hour. By being past security & the 2 ticket tap in required for EMH by 6:30 you will be off FOP around 7am. By arriving at the security line by 7am, you will be off FOP around 8:30.

I'm going to reiterate that for THIS SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER, we don't know how this is going to go. AK has emh EVERY day and so does MK and HS. With three parks having EMH, the crowds will be dispersed. AK may not even open earlier than the stated 7:00 a.m.

I wouldn't put this in pen on your planning just yet. You can watch wait times on the app for the weeks before your trip and see how it goes. There will also be people reporting back on what all the parks do with these early hours. You may be able to get there right at 7 and be fine. You may even be able to get there at 7:30 and be fine.

Wait times are likely to drop in the last hour or so before close. Before that, not really.

I think you’ll wait about an hour if you get there right at 7 during the 3 park EEMH period.

If you get there at 6:30 you’ll wait 30 minutes to get in and then 30 more to ride (an hour total) If you get there at 6 you’ll wait an hour to get in and walk onto the ride (an hour total).

If it was MK where time is extremely valuable I’d say get up early, but AK will be open for 13-14 hours most days this fall and you can see everything that you want to see in that amount of time even if you spend the first hour waiting for FOP.

I would get in line 5 to 10 minutes before close. Posted wait time will be inflated to discourage people getting in line. SHOULD take an hour or less for the whole experience (line plus pre-shows and ride) but of course nobody knows how things are going to go this fall with the EEMHs and SWGE opening.

I was there in mid August and it didn’t drop that much towards park close but I did manage to get a same day Fastpass on both days I went, so one day I rode twice (I had a booked Fastpass too). It took a while but we got it eventually.

The wait time doesn’t always drop much before close but the nice thing about being in line at close is that about 5-10 minutes after close they run out of people in the FastPass line. That means it’s alllll standby from that point out, so a 100 minute standby wait suddenly becomes 25 minutes.

I think everyone has the same question. With HS and AK opening early every day, nobody knows what this will do to RD times.
I'm glad we aren't going until October, so there will be plenty of time to read trip reports and see how the waits are.

On our last visit, we waited 17 minutes for FoP just before a 10:30 pm close. The posted wait was 110 minutes. The line had been around 3 hours earlier in the day.

Waiting until later is generally a much more efficient use of time than arriving early in the morning. Just keep in mind that posted wait times are intentionally exaggerated at night to discourage late riders.

We rode last week at park close. Waited 50 minutes. Well worth it. Wait time was much inflated.
